We were visiting Brisbane for the first time,I can remember that it was December although I`m not certain of the exact year when we met these three ladies waiting in their finery out side the Town Hall for a Xmas lunch.
The original shot was taken on a BW Delta film so this has been digitalised losing some of its details along the way.

Nice b&w capture of this "trio" ! Their total age is most probably around 240 years !
TFS and best regards

Great shot from the archives. I've always been a sucker for monochrome, and used to teach darkroom techniques. I love the frank and happy smiles from these three: I imagine you asked their permissions first. You say you've lost some detail in the scanning process. In a way that's not surprising, but using a dedicated neg. scanner (and of course scanning the original neg - first generation, so no loss of sharpness as there will be with any print), and scanning at very high dpi (I use around 4000 dpi on a 35mm neg, which translates to a 100mg, 16 bit file of around 45x 28 cm, at 300 ppi), can give you excellent results, effectively indistinguishable from a digital original. See this as an example. Mind you, I borrowed the scanner from work, as they're not cheap!

Great photo. The B&W and their dress suggests a much earlier time than 2003. The skin damage that is obvious on the arms of the lady in the centre and the one on the right is probably the result of a lifetime of exposure to sunlight in the tropics of Australia.

hi leslie. this is a classic shot, where the subject and its presentation surpasses any criticism against the quality, imho. the ladies look like movie characters :)

J'aime le beau sourire des dames de Brisbane. L'utilisation du noir et blanc donne un petit côté vintage très intéressant à la composition.
