Photographer’s Note

There are several walking tracks in Australia named the Kokoda Track - they have been given this name to honour the bravery of the Australian troops on the original Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea during WWII.

This is Brisbane's version on the slopes of Mt Coot-tha. It is somewhat shorter at 1km than the original Kokoda Track at 96kms. However the last stretch (as shown) close to Sir Samuel Griffith Drive is particularly steep. Brisbane's Kokoda Track is used by hikers training to walk the real thing as the climate and terrain are considered similar but without the mud. Others view it as a good walking track to get up the heart rate and produce a bit of sweat on a Sunday afternoon.
