Photographer’s Note
On Anzac day people queue to walk through the Shrine of Rememberance in Brisbane's Anzac Square - as a veteran lays a wreath in front of the Eternal Flame and remembers his mates.
I decided to partially desaturate this photo following critiques about the extremely colourful original. Unfortunately this photo was taken in the harsh midday sun of Brisbane. I cloned out the woman behind the eternal flame and have left the 3 important features in colour - the veteran, his wreath and the eternal flame.

Hello Marlene. As it seems, the photo is important for you. Into the RP you brought now order to picture. Black-and-white presents the background, - the color against it the actual picture element. The focus lies on the saluting man. Its clothes and the medals refer to veterans. PP is exemplary. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hello Marlene,
I like this idea of partial desaturation. Thanks to modern editing programs it is possible now :)
Good variant, I like it too!
Maybe I should think of partial desaturation in some of my photos...... I am not good at it, though.
Best regards,
Elena

Hi Marlene
You have done a great job to put the colour in the places that are important not only to you but to the day of rememberance. Nice cloning job as well the flame now unobstructed as it should be. Great work.
Cheers

hi Marlene
The desat works nicely here for this close view of the event, and I keep guessing what goes with the yellow color at the top left until I read your note. I think the harsh light is a good reason for the desat work to get through nicely.
Nice work!

Hello Marlene,
I didn't see the original, but the partial desaturation works very well. Black and white to symbolize the sorrow and respect for the fallen soldiers, colour for the important features. I think this choice hightens the symbolic value of the picture.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello my dear Marlene
This is a very significant photo, which makes me a thoughtful. Composition is marvelous, combination of color and B&W is a little controversial, to be honest for me all B&W is comfortable, but i depend upon each one's taste.
Congratulation on your great Job !
Best regards and thanks for sharing

Hi Marlene,
You did clone out the woman behind the eternal flame and have left the 3 important features in colour - the veteran, his wreath and the eternal flame, is well done.
Wish I would be there and share that moments.
Well shot.

HI Marlene, a very nice tribute to our war heroes. You have really done well with the B&W and the colour popping. I think it was an excellent idea in this instance. It also interesting that you have shown all the people who have come along to support Anzac Day and our veterans. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend, Lisa.
