Photographer’s Note
As I stood amongst the crowds who had gathered to watch the Anzac parade on Anzac Day I glanced up to this apartment building which overlooks Anzac Square - and I noticed several patriotic symbols. Two Australian flags hung from windows and a solitary lone pine tree stood below.
The Lone Pine is a name given to a solitary tree on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey which marked the site of the Battle of Lone Pine in 1915. Today pines are planted as a memorial to the Australian and New Zealand soldiers who fought in Gallipoli.

dear Marlene,
a very artistically composed picture.
the pine tree, brown windows, flags and one person are intentionally arranged in this shot, it is not natural.
and highly contrasted light and shadow make interesting cubic effect on the wall. lined white walls are comfortable for my eyes.
thank you,
Akihisa

Hello Marlene. Lines, form, colors. A graphically structured photo. The special are the flags hanging on two balconies. Really an interesting photo. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hello Marlene,
I somehow overlooked this image in your gallery!
quite an interesting photo-observation, I should say.
But this is a really curious view: the pine-tree looks more than lonely - absolutely out of place against this building with a repetitive pattern of windows and bright white "stripes" (what are they? I don't know their names even in Russian! LOL)
The flags in the windows are quite OK... and even a man who is seen in one of the windows (as a juxtaposition to the flags, I suppose?).
Warm regards,
Elena
