Australia is experiencing terrible flooding at the moment. Parts of New South Wales, Victoria and again Queensland have been declared natural disaster zones. Even previous desert areas and drought-stricken zones have been flooded. This is a photo taken at the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras a few years ago.

Hello Lisa,

Nice use of a slow shutter speed to get this movement effect. The vivid colors are also participating to the view giving a balance with the blur of movement.

Hi Lisa - I heard about your terrible floods on Sky, funny one never thinks of Australia as a wet kind of place. No doubt when it rains it is a bit like Namibia in very wet years. The heaven just open and the land cannot deal with the sudden deluge. My thoughts go out to those who are suffering the effects of flooding.
I love this shot ... I was going to say it had such a gay feel about it (referring to gay in the old sense of the word!) before I read your note. Now I shall say it has such a joyous feel about it. The swirling movement and colour is lovely, just enough sharp detail to decipher the shot but not enough to take away the atmosphere. Creative and fun. Warm regards Rosemary

A very colourful photo (as you would expect for the Mardi Gras!) and capturing the movement exquisitely.

Hello Lisa,

Fantastic motion blur of the girl's legs with good sharpness & vibrant colour despite the dull overcast day with rain. The yellow umbrella contrasts well with the cooler cyan colour. Tfs!

I think we all are tired of the rain, the floods, I hear you guys had alot down south and I think of the folk in Wagga as well.
Love this shot...! The exposure time makes it dreamy, almost Parisian somehow, and the timing with the recent mardi gras works well too.

What a sad and depressing note you have given us and what, by way of contrast, a delightfully happy and joyful picture!

Panning at 1/2 second exposure at 105mm focal length? What courage! But it has worked beautifully here. Fabulous bright colours (I was also about to say "gay") - great splashes of red, yellow, blue and green and those socks! - I love them and the blurred effect on them.

Great sense of movement and joy, brilliant composition and spot-on exposure too.

considerato che siete in estate al momento è strano apprendere quanto da te scritto nella nota.
Anche l'Italia non vive un momento buono con il tempo.
Due giorni fa nelle vicinanze di catania è caduta la neve.
Incredibile! Anche se noi siamo in inverno è troppo per Catania dove la temperatura non scende mai al di sotto di 2 gradi.

Riguardo la tua foto, hai atteso tanto tempo per condividerla con noi.
Io la trovo davvero spettacolare, un pò diversa dalle tue solite foto.
Bellissimi i colori e il mosso che fa percepire il movimento.

Tu as choisi la bonne combinaison de réglages de ton appareil pour obtenir cet effet de mouvement. Ce genre de photos n'est pourtant pas évident à réaliser, le résultat étant souvent trop flou ou pas assez flou. les couleurs vives contribuent à rendre l'image attrayante et j'aime beaucoup le "jeu de jambes" de la dame!

your hand held picture has created a fantastic effect hre. the colours and the sense of movement are stunning. the movement of her legs is fascinating especially the way in which you have captured about ten legs all moving at the same time. the colours in the umbrella is cracking, its like a fast moving rainbow. excellent image.

Your slow-mo image is excellent for the multiple movement layers, and an interesting costume, all in motion. At first, I thought I was having a Mai Tai Hangover.

Hello Lisa,

The world is now so small when we all hear about oneanother's disasters via the international news. The climate has become so odd; in England which is quite a small country, in the north we are inundated with rain, in the S.E., only a couple of hundred miles away, there is talk of hose-pipe bans because the water levels are so low!

I do like this shot. It is so full of life and movement and yet it is quite etherial. The b/g colours have the characteristics of coloured cellophane; very effective.

Mi dispiace sentire che avete alluvioni in qualche zona, purtroppo è una cosa che si stà ripetendo in tante aree del mondo, e questo credo sia dovuto principalmente al riscaldamento del pianeta, una conseguenza delle politiche ambientali sbagliate.
In ogni caso stai tranquilla, sono sicuro che presto arriverà qualcuno che porterà un bel sole e un bellissimo periodo di fine estate... :-)
Intanto ti faccio i complimenti per questo fantastico shot, un pò fuori dal tuo stile, ma che dimostra che tu sei una brava fotografa con qualsiasi genere di foto, anche il mosso, che io considero tra i più difficili. Superbravissima!!!

Mary Poppins on her teenage years?
Wow, motion blur shows the action, you could call this a single frame movie. And somehow you captured all the colours of rainbow within the urban environment.
I can well understand your title thinking of the recent weather over the there, although feeling of this image is more like 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious'.
Highly impressionistic. You rarely see such in TE, especially nowadays when more artisically oriented members seem to have abandoned the site.

Quest'anno Emirates aveva incredibili offerte per Australia a gennaio (sugli 800 euro...cose mai viste) e siamo stati molto tentati, ma le cose che vorremmo vedere sono troppe, adesso abbiamo anche la mania delle Cook Islands...ci sei mai stata tu Lisa??
