Photographer’s Note
Found this old abandoned vehicle on a bend along the 100 kilometer section of dirt road between Mildura on the Victoria - New South Wales Border and Lake Mungo National Park. This was once somebodies pride and joy but now lays derelict, bullet ridden and unloved as time passes it by.
From Wikipedia
Mungo National Park is an isolated national park in south-western New South Wales (Australia), 876 km west of Sydney, in the Balranald Shire. It is part of the Willandra Lakes Region, a World Heritage Site covering 2,400 square kilometres, and incorporating seventeen dry lakes. This park is about 75 kilometres south-east of Pooncarie, 110 km north-east of Mildura, Victoria and approximately 145 km south-west of Ivanhoe. The roads in and around the park may become impassable during or after rain.
The central feature of Mungo National Park is Lake Mungo, the second largest of the ancient dry lakes. Mungo National Park is most significant for the archeological remains which have been discovered there. The remains of Mungo Man, the oldest human remains discovered in Australia, and Mungo Lady, the oldest known human to have been ritually cremated, were both discovered within the park. They were buried on the shore of Lake Mungo, beneath the 'Walls of China', a series of lunettes on the South eastern edge of the lake.
A visitor centre, is located near the old Mungo woolshed and the entrance to the park, where further information and a map may be acquired. A 70 km signposted circular vehicle track allows visitors to drive to the spectacular Walls of China and around the lakes. The shearers' quarters provide bunk accommodation, and a communal kitchen for a daily fee. Camping and other fees may be paid at the visitor centre.[1]

Hi Peter, what a find - and in the middle of nowhere. It's my dream to go to Mungo NP so I hope you have some wonderful photos tucked away of the Great Wall of China. I love the saturation here, nice square cropping and the depth is excellent. Great job, TFS, Lisa (PS: addicted to TE yet?)

Hello Peter,
The rusty colour tones and remaims of blue well captured, a fantastic wreck that seems stranded i nthe middle of nowhere. A modern version of the abandoned wagon wheels trekking to the Far West...

Paul

Hi Peter.
This must have been an interesting car to photograph! You found the right angle for a good shot. The place looks lonely, and just increases the "sad" mood. I guess the road to Mungo will be long for that car.

Hi Peter
Great shot enhanced by the interesting sky. The rust and remnant blue colour of this abandoned vehicle seem to blend with the typical outback countryside. Could only be OZ. Tfs, Marlene

Hi Peter,
So that's what happened to my first car, one minute it was parked in front of my house, then it was gone.
Glad someone put it out of its misery, a shotgun will do that.
Good shot, good saturated colours, excellent sky.
A bit too central for me, I'd like to have seen a bit more space on the right of frame rather than the tight all around crop, sort of give the car a bit of direction. One other thing, the heavy black frame tends to dominate the image, maybe a thinner line would have been better, let the image stand on its own, it's certainly good enough.
Your gallery looks great, nice work. Welcome to TE.
Best wishes
Peter

Bonjour Peter,
Comme cela, la voiture risque de marcher beaucoup moins bien, mais elle peut toujours faire un abri de fortune.
Photo originale d'une belle ruine sous un superbe ciel bleu.
Bon week-end.

Hello Peter, I travelled along that road several years ago I wonder how I missed it. Nice warm colours & very indicative of the area, red soil & blue skies. Nice colours on the old bullet riddled body, seem to compliment their surroundings. Nice one.

Hi,
Nice capture. The car has the same colors as the sky and the earth then it gives a total realistic harmony which gives to me an surrealistic feeling from this photo.
