Purple Swamphen (Porphyrio porphyrio). This was taken at the botanical gardens in Wollongong. Wollongong is about 80km south of Sydney on the south coast.

Hello Mark, I see these birds at the lake near my place I didn't know what they were called. Now I do. Nice clear shot with plenty of detail on this hen, BG nicely out of focus.
