Photographer's Note

‘Homeleigh’, the only surviving cottage of a small farming community known as Irish Town, that was present here during the late 19th century. The area is on the northern tablelands of New South Wales and was first settled during the 1840s, mostly by immigrants from Ireland. This cottage dates from 1889 and consists of 4 rooms and was used until the 1980s. It has now been restored by the local historical society as a reminder of life during the early European settlement of Australia.

Shot was cropped slightly from the original.
