These are the same rock ledges as I visited with Lisa , just a different day, different tide, different sunrise. There are a series of these ledges running our into the ocean from below the cliffs that make up the headland and I am sure I could go back there a hundred times and come away with something different each and every time ( and wet shoes most times). I particularly liked the palette of colours before sunrise on this day as well as the way the ledges made a graceful yet jagged sweep pointing to the horizon where the sun would later rise.

the colours in the sky are fantastic, full of character and atmosphere as they play with the clouds. this coastal area seems to be an amazing place to take pictures. the layers and ledges of rock are incredible. you have managed the light perfectly to produce this stunning seascape.

Hi Kathryn: Another great sunset/tidal shot from down under. It's nice how the wet rocks and sand keep the foreground from going too dark. Another fine addition to your gallery.
Greetings from Florida................Greg

a wonderful sweeping perspective that exalts the form of the ledges and their texture next to the smooth surface of the water that reflects the first light of the day. They lead to a thin but fascinating band of agitated sea and to the beautiful, seemingly shifting colours in the sky. A superb capture of another captivating sunrise, its reflection on the seascape and its invigorating atmosphere. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a good evening,

You and Lisa got some pretty amazing mileage out of these shore shots, Kathryn! Beautiful tones, and I like how the lines of the ledge mimic the waves themselves in places - it is almost difficult to tell the direction of the tide here. Perfect exposure time to smooth the water somewhat without losing all of its texture and motion.

Quite a striking shot, both from the textures and the colours. It has a very tranquil mood, the lights drawing the eyes gently from the f/g to the b/g.
The zigzag patterns appear like steps across the frame from l/r; most unusual.
Have a lovely day,

I like the pink tones of the sky and along the rock shelves, the composition works very well with the rock pools leading nicely through the scene.A most serene image.Well done.
Best wishes Les.

You have a talent for finding and capturing the most beautiful colours, I would feel lucky to even glimpse this scene in real life. The still water adds a wonderful sense of tranquility.

Hi dear Kathryn
I love these pastel tones, they remind me of eating Fruit Tingle lollies! The little puddles of water and the textures of the rock ledge are pure magic. What tranquillity you bring to us, my blood pressure is lowering as I write this! The exposition is spot-on and your trusty Lee filters have worked their magic on evening out that sky. How could you leave this place? It must break your heart!

Hello Kathryn! this picture is superb. the composition is perfect. The low POV and reflection the slow shutter speed has created a lovely effect with the water. the colours of the sky are fantastic.

another lovely piece of land from you :)
Jealous of you for meeting up with Lisa :)
as you mentioned in your note, the color pallete is very pretty, and for sure the highlight.
but i also enjoy the undelations of the seabed, and the pockets of water.
excellent choice to place the horizon line at the 1/3 mark,
you do well with these.
enjoy your day
