Photographer’s Note
Taken in Bald Rock National Park, northern NSW. I almost decided not to post this, as the sharpness is not that good. I scanned it at 600 dpi. My scanner has a maximum capacity of 2400 dpi, but it takes ages to upload at that max resolution. Any tips on how to get best clarity & sharpness from scanned prints much appreciated.
This image is already sharpened, & edges sharpened, in APS. Any further sharpening gives unacceptable noise. The background is overexposed to give the foreground some detail. Shot on a cloudy day about 2 pm. As there is a scramble up the 45 degree angle rockface to get there, a tripod was not an option. I steadied myself against a tree instead. The 'green' is moss on granite boulders. Recent rain had made it grow.

I think this is very interesting Green colors here, Chris! Still looks great with a lower resolution. I like the rock on the foreground. Nice shot!

Hey, this is a lot clearer than many of the images you have posted; maybe you're improved you skill at battling that scanner!
Nice colours and composition, not the first kind of scene that pops into midn when most people think "Oz"

A great point of view and composition Chris. I like the colours and the DOF. Very strange rock shapes... so spherical.... sort of ;) Well done.

Colours are great- you've managed to squeeze every last bit of detail out of that print, I don't think you can do much more from a 4X6.
You might want to think about a scanner that can scan from negatives via an adapter or maybe even a dedicated device if you want to obtain the maximum quality from your negatives/slides (2900-4000dpi will get you results you can print past 8X12).

Hi Chris, beautiful capture here. I love the greens and the textures of the rocks. Composed very well. I thought this might look good with a "painting" like effect, so did a WS for you just to experiment.

Stephen

Hello Chris.
A pity about the sharpness, as you explain, because this is a beautiful composition, full of interest.
Regards,
Andrew.
