I did not have a fixed list of things to do on my weekend in Sydney. Except that I wanted to take a blue hour shot from a viewpoint called Mrs Macquarie's Chair, and meet Lisa.
This was my fourth visit to Sydney, but I hadn't been here after sunset. View is very famous, but I still wanted my own version, and above all see it with my own eyes.
Indeed there is also a chair on that peninsula. Mrs Macquarie's Chair is an exposed sandstone rock cut into the shape of a bench. It was carved by convicts in 1810 for Governor Macquarie's wife Elizabeth.

C'est une superbe photo de nuit;
bonne gestion des zones sombre qui contrastent avec les éléments éclairé.

Beautiful late blue hour shot, Kari - the illumination on both the bridge and the Opera House is stunning. Well framed in a panoramic style as well. Thanks!

A superb sharpness and an abundance of details in this picture. A beautifully captured sky increases the value of this view.

hello Kari, I went also with Lisa to Mrs Macquarie's Chair :0. But I was not so successful with the photo. Even with the tripod it was not sharp, maybe because of the wind. Here is the spectacular composition. Fantastic night shot with two icons in one picture - Sydney Opera and Coat Hanger bridge. Stunning image.
WArm regrads MAlgo.

I know exactly what you mean...even though every city has its Iconic scenes and subjects, when we travel we want to have our OWN photo - thats just the way it is.
I'd be doing the exact same thing.
So was Lisa with you on this photo shoot?
looks pretty good from here, nice to have the illumination on the sails.

Hello Kari - Mrs Macquarie would find this iconic view quite different from the one she enjoyed from her chair and these days it would be considered quite incorrect for convicts to carve out a chair for a 'politician's wife. How times change!
A fine shot where the darkness acts as a good contrasting canvas against which the lights of Sidney shine out.
Have a good weekend

What an interesting note about "Mrs. Macquarie's Chair" and how wonderful that you managed to meet up with Lisa too! I'm sure that she would be able to show you some wonderful places for photographs as well as some fine places to enjoy a glass or two of wine.
This is a lovely photograph, very well composed and with a lovely deep blue sky. The combination of low natural light and varied artificial light is delightful, your exposure perfect and the colours wonderfully vibrant. The details and sharpness are superb, especially when seen at the full size of 1500 pixels wide.

This is beautiful, really well exposed and focussed. The colours are delightful and you composed it superbly, even getting the New Years Eve sign on the Bridge. It was a pleasure meeting you, I hope you enjoyed your Aussie trip and I hope one day to see you again soon.

I have been enjoying a browse through your gallery and you have done really well to assemble a collection of typical Australiana :)
I am sure you had a wonderful time out with Lisa.
This is indeed an iconic Sydney shot however your panorama format and light management are wonderfully executed
The botanic gardens are a gem in the heart of beautiful Sydney
