Photographer's Note
This is Kimber Lane in Sydney's Chinatown. The artwork you see is part of the creation of Sydney artist Jason Wing, an Australian of Aboriginal and Chinese heritage. The artwork is aptly called Between Two Worlds, created in January 2012. The title of my photo is called Cloud Street in a nod to one of Australia's most famous writers, Tim Winton.

Hi LIsa,
Wow! This is a cool place. Artwork is spreading on the floor, on the walls and in the air. I think it's a really nice capture.
I am missing urban life so much down here, where everyone has to hide when the night fall. And I miss the cultural aspects of big city, with artistic manifestation like the one you are showing.
This photo of yours has an in-depth echo in my soul and heart.
Well done!

Ciao Lisa,
Ciao e buona domenica

Hi Lisa,
Extra blue illuminations on the blue hour...
Nice view down the decorated alley, graffiti or painting - it's all in the eyes of the beholder.
Nice spotted and fine DOF and clarity, hand-held, collected.
Have a nice week ahead.

an amazing composition focused on both the colors and deepness. an artistic image which is surely to be kept somewhere to be a precşous inspiration for a painter.

Ciao cara Lisa,
mi piace tantissimo la profondita' di questa strada e l' ottima definizione dei parti illuminati e dei colori caldi e freddi che si alternano. La decorazione artistica e le luci particolari faranno un' esperienza insolita per chi attraversa il vicolo. L' atmosfera e' affascinante. Complimenti e grazie!
Tanti saluti e buona settimana,
Ourania

Hello Lisa,I see that you have taken advantage of the trusty Canon to crank up the ISO without any sign of noise in the dark areas.
The murals have a lot of interest and the receding Lane and artwork give the picture a nice sense of perspective.
The temperature here hovers around 2 degrees with no change forecast for the next few days!
Must get back to the fireside.
Hugs Les.

Hello Lisa,
what an amazing street. It´s also an excellent example how to enliven the urban space and make it more interesting and picturesque for us.
I like the way you composed and framed the scene putting stress on this beautifully painted wall in the foreground.Quality of the image, light and colors are also superb, especially when we reailze you did not use the tripod.
Kind regards

Hello Lisa
This work that you've photographed takes graffiti to a new level. Not even sure if you can call it graffiti any more. I like the fact that you have chosen to record it at night: probably technically more difficult (handheld!), but the bonus of course is the illumination suspended above the street. Good work.

Will

Hi Lisa,
I had a long look at this before reading your note. Such a narrow back alley hardly looks like a spot for large scale and quality street art. One could expect just ugly tags. And then there's those light figures too. Weel framed, wide angle shows both the art and environment well.

Ciao Lisuccia
mi sembra piuttosto eegante per essere una strada della Chinatown.
La tua foto è comunque ben fatta, ma su questo non ci sono dubbi, non hai certo bisogno di consigli.
Salutissimi

Gidday, Lisa! Back from the trip, and had a great time.
This is one of the most picturesque alleyways I can recall, with the fascinating artwork adorning the walls and ground. An interesting story behind it as well! Street Art like this can be found in Boston, but both the city's residents and its government have an uneasy relationship with it. Shepherd Fairy, the famous street artist, was putting on a show here at the Institute of Contemporary Art and was actually arrested in the middle of the show's run while painting in an abandoned spot in the city. Glad to see Sydney has a bit of a prouder tradition that allows artwork like this to flourish.

Hi Lisa
Impressionistic, touches of mood and an air of mystery! This cheerful artwork is certainly much nicer than the usual nasty slogans grafitti one often sees and this a cut above that, actually so pleasing that brightens the place up. A real eyecatcher indeed but I guess it is fairly dim there, however the exposure is manageable that translates into a pleasing ambience with hard shadows as we are lead to infinity but still retain small areas of fairly bright details without burning anything throughout the way. Great work to bring out the atmosphere of this place. Congrats
Kind regards

Ciao iBambina !!
you are attracted by Art...... and that is a good thing.
I left Sydney 12 years ago ... so I do not get to see some of the new attractions.
I love the art work and intrigued by the electric figurines suspended from above.
Your photos, at night time...... is quite spectacular.
Well done. Un abrazo

Hi Lisa,
Interesting - I have never been in this lane way & from your photo it is certainly worth a visit - I like the colours & lighting - I hope you were with someone & not getting down those lonely lanes on your own... Thats the mum in me I worry...lol!!!

Hello Lisa - Sorry for my tardiness in commenting on this super shot; my internet has been playing up and to get even one critique uploaded has been a labour of love. Things seem better today so here goes! I like your POV here with the alley narrowing towards the distance and the attractive concentration of blue lights and their reflections. The way you have used both the geometry of the wall and the flowing mural to lead the eye into the scene is excellent. Fascinating shot. Warm regards Rosemary

Hi Lisa
oh Lisa...no tripod again! :)
handheld in the dark at 1/20 must be very difficult.
but then again its a pain in the ass to carry a tripod too! :)
at first glance i thought this was a red-light-district!
perhaps i'm hopeful lol
the only thing missing here is a creepy guy leaning against the wall smoking a cigar or something.
for sure its a unique scene, cool post!
cheers

Gidday Lisa
Now this is cool, I've never seen this kind of urban art on the walls and grounds, and it's made a class masterpiece. Interesting to hear the heritage of the artist too, and a great title for both the artwork and the pic. Cloud street sounds like it could be a soap operate :)
Out of interest, what are the neon blue thingamebobs hanging froM the air? They look to my eyes a little like glow in dark Betty boo ghosts, but that's probably just my imagination.
All the best
Noel

Amazing wall and floor, with very nice forms, which were well shown in the picture, with good light management. Good art of the painter and also of the photographer. See you!

Ciao Lisa,
Good sharpness & superb use of diminishing linear perspective. I like the repetition of both the blue cloud patterns and the neon human figure. Nice warm cold color contrasts also between the blue & yellow ochre wall at left. Tfs!

Hi Lisa,
A perfect perspective here, there is that Sydney inner city atmosphere I feel from my younger adult days, and a sense of wonder in the big city. Great angles and use of dark/light/geometry.
