Photographer's Note
This is a photo of the New South Wales Legislative Council in Parliament House. It is modelled on the Westminster House of Lords in both style and colour. The Legislative Assembly is coloured green in imitation of the House of Commons. The large throne you see in the background is reserved for Queen Elizabeth II, only she may sit there, and the public is banned from sitting there. I would be interested to hear your opinion as to whether you think I sat in Queenie's chair regardless :)
Parliament House is the oldest building in Sydney. It is situated next to Sydney Hospital, of which I have previously posted photos, most recently the photo of Il Porcellino. The original facade is in the Georgian style and the additions which contain the parliamentary wings are in the Neo-Gothic style. Parliament House is a short walk from a number of architectural attractions such as the Mitchell Library, Sydney Hospital, Hyde Park Barracks, The Mint, the New South Wales Supreme Court, Hyde Park and St Marys Cathedral. It's free to enter and is well worth a look.
PS: I've just realised I've uploaded the version where I haven't corrected the perspective. I'll upload the correct one in my WS this evening

hello dear Lisa,
I think, you sat in "the chair," and you deserved to sit in the chair. As long as you did not call the hospital in London, inquiring about the health of any of the Royals while you were seated in the chair... Again, one of the symmetric shots with the only "symmetry breaking elements" present in the bust and and the guard on one side, and the window in the other. Symmetry breaking is always a subtle blessing, a pregnant sphere is more interesting than a perfect sphere, and egg vs. a ball.
Warm regards Lisa,
Bulent

Oh, Lisa, you didn't, did you?
Well, I have a sneaky suspicion that you did ... I have a feeling that you have a bit of a mischievous streak!
The photograph is beautifully exposed, sharp, rich in colours and very well composed.
Is the man in the corner a guard, ready to put you in prison for misbehaving?
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hi Liza,
Excellent photo of this famous room. The light is perfect. I like the symmetrical arrangement very much.
I visited this interesting place on 26th August 2009. That time I took photo from corner facing the gallery. Thank you for this excellent photo. Have a very nice evening.

Ciao Lisa,
Like almost every parlement, it is very solennel, rich of dark woods and the patine of every butt that sat down there is superb. The point of view is perfect as well as the symetry.
Have a nice day

Hi Lisa,
Kept the British tradition and style, marvelous view on the hall of Justic council.
I wish ours would look with just a bit resemblance, as you know we also a former British Mandate colony.
beautiful inside, hope justice serve well there.

Ciao cara Lisa,
Tanti saluti e buona giornata,
Ourania

Hello Lisa,
beautiful interior shot!I wouldn´t mind to work in such conditions:)Dominating red color scheme makes a cozy impression. Also the quality is superb and that´s despite poor light and usage of ISO 2000.
Did you really depose the Queen and seat in her chair?:)
I hope it was comfortable:)
Kind regards

Hi Lisa
very interesting subject.
hmmm...what would I have done to 'steal' a photo of me or Tosca sitting in that Throne!
and i'd love to know how often the Queen has actually sat in there too!
I can't help but laugh when we see our politicians yelling and screaming at each other like 8 year olds, and these are the men and women in charge of the country! yikes!
I bet you couldn't take your tripod in this location!
cool and unusual subject, and since its an indoor shot it turned out very well.
cool.
cheers

Gidday Lisa,
its friday, yeay!!!
I like this shot, its a very nice interior, and it does look very British. I can almost here the sound of monacles falling into glasses of sherry when peoples eyes widen with surprise. The rich red colours and brown leather would certainly make me think of the English parliament. Very nice point of view on the place too,
When I seen what this was, my first thought was, so this is where the snakes make decisions, but thats probably unfair> Just because we in Ireland dislike our government doesnt mean everybody does!
Have a great weekend!

Ciao cara Lisa,
Despite your apologies, I don't really see very much wrong with the perspective here. There's maybe a very slight (less than 1°) counterclockwise tilt but the perspective looks fine to my ageing eyes.
An amazing interior shot in obviously quite poor light but you have coped very well with hand holding the camera at a slow shutter speed and the camera has coped well with the high ISO - only some slight noise in the lighter, upper parts of the picture.
Gorgeous rich colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.
And a fascinating note to boot!
Excellent!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello, Lisa - back from my trip, and catching up now!
Nice work in low light, and a really clear image for such a high ISO. Corrected perspective or no, this is a nice composition placing the seat of power at the end of this long shot and showing the impressive surroundings, which enhances the send of power here.
And, of course, I'm sure there was some daredevil throne-sitting happening not long after this one was taken!
Thanks,
Andrew

Hello Lisa
Good control over the curved bg perspective with good sharpness & framing. Excellent symmetry & colour saturation. The solitary person in the left bg adds interest. Was expecting an emu instead of a lion on the bg coat of arms. But not to worry. Tfs!

Hello Lisa
I am sure you couldn't help yourself and sat on that chair reserved for your revered Queen.
Amazing sharpness and claritiy without any notable noise for a picture taken at ISO 2000. Great colors and light.
You Aussies truly can't deny your english heritage with this parliament building resembling so much its counterpart in London.
have a good sunday

Gidday Queenielisa,
Your NSW Legislative Council interior caught my attention not only for its classical appearance, but also because I worked many many moons for Calif government across the street from our Capital building which looks like the Washington D.C. one.
And, I double dog dare you to show the Queenie sitting inside. Remeber; "It is easier to get forgiveness than permission"
Have a fine weekend, etc.
Cheers,
Calray
PS: I enjoyed Seth's hosting the Academy Awards, but there has been a bit of negative reviews, concerning comic remarks aimed at females, especially his Boobs song. I laughed a lot, and realize he is a comic and has immunity, but may not return?

Ciao Lisa,
Cari Saluti.
Marie-Louise.
