Some buildings deserve every photo that gets taken of them, Lisa, and this is unquestionably among them. Great shot of it too - I feel as though I never see it from this angle, only from the side with the bridge in frame. This not only shows the beautiful arched architecture but also the colors throughout, enhanced by a nice long exposure. The light blooms at the tips of each half are brilliant as well, especially the one to the left, which really enhances the shine on the building. Beautiful work - it's not easy to do justice to great architecture, and you'd done so here with flying colors!

this place is soooo spectacular in the blue hour. Fantastic effect with an excellent light. The water and the sky are magnificent. I really enjoy this photo. Wonderful work. My congratulation. Love it.

Dear Lisa,

I cannot imagine a better night shot of the great opera house. I remember from university days in the United States, the debates I read about in Sydney. Should the sail-like structure really belong in Sydney? I think there was intense resistance, but one person who came out for it was rising superstar contralto Joan Sutherland.

Ciao Lisuzza...certo che non potevi resistere visto lo spettacolo...forse è la più bella che ho visto e poi fatta con la nuova Camera e da un'altro POV, non ci sono gli exif completi quindi non riesco a capire la focale che hai usato e l'ora in cui è stata scattata ma la luce è particolare, esposizione perfetta con un mare marmoreo,
L'Opera vista da quì è stupenda...grandi dettagli...

This is one of those structures that are just irresistible. Even better when not in the harsh daylight. Incredible quality to this and I love the way that the different coloured lights add a warm, welcoming glow.

Who would resist such beauty and grace.Your point of view is perfect as well as the framing.The lighting of that beautiful monument is well done.I like the effect of the 30 seconds on the water.

nemmeno io posso resistere. Devo commentare questa foto.
Hai detto bene, l'Opera House è una vera meraviglia, così come anche questa tua foto e WS compreso.

Quando mi hai portato qui è ho visto tale meraviglia per la prima volta con i miei occhi, ho avuto un attimo di emozione.

Tanti anni l'ho sempre visto in televisione e in qualche rivista turistica, ma quel giorno finalmente ero li e potevo gustarmelo con i miei occhi.

Bellissimo il primo piano su di esso, nonchè la gestione della luce davvero eccezionale.

Hai saputo rendere davvero un grande merito a questa meraviglia dell'ingegneria edile.

Hi Lisa, there is no doubt that it's a photogenic building. Jorn Utzon must have been very pleased with the number of images that have been made over the years. I'm sure he would have liked this effort too. clarity / sharpness is outstanding. Timing was good too, with just a hint of colour still in the sky. cheers, Steve

As Andrew says, some buildings deserve every shot, particularly if they are as crisp and sharp as this! Beautiful building indeed, its lines and curves woudl intrigue me for hours, someday I hope to see it in person. Until then though, your superb capture does a fantastic job to show it off in all its glory. Lovely selection of colours in this too, which I normally dont see in captures from here. Nicely done!

that's right. in fact it was too boring to face with that great building almost every day. however now i have just realized that there was a certain reason why this immensity was being tried to be displayed again and again. i believe the number of such attempts will be so limited, i guess.

Hello Dear Lisa,

I never tire of seeing this most attractive, iconic building. Each photograph offers something just a little different, maybe the light, maybe the angle, maybe the pov. This shot, for me, is certainly one of the best that I have seen. The exposure is pin sharp, whilst the colours just bring it to life. I particularly like the twinkling light on the tip of the l/h roof. It is almost like the effect of glittering white teeth, reflecting light during a smile!
A very well composed shot. Certainly one of which you can be very proud.

I love postcards and I have to say I have never seen such a great postcard of this iconic building. I am so glad you decided to do that. It is obviously a spectacular blue hour photograph, so clear and sharp that I can actually see some details of the opera for the first time here. The opera is so beautiful and the presentation is marvelous.
I do like taking postcards for many reasons: one of them is same reason I am on TE -I cannot travel everywhere so I can at least see some places in photos. Secondly -plenty of actual postcards are of poor quality and in spite of ambitious photographers it is not trivial to make a good postcard.

Hi Lisa,

You've done a great job on this photo, even though it's a popular viewpoint for the Opera House, and almost a cliched view. The colours are wonderful and the exposure works well. The building stands out well against the dark background.

Well we get to see many photo's of the Sydney Opera House as well as being able to visit it from time to time - I have to say that your photo is one of the finest I have seen - The lighting is absolutely beautiful - the clarity is outstanding & the colours are sensational.
