Photographer's Note

A shot of one of the numerous cobblestones streets/alleys, in The Rocks, the oldest precinct in the Sydney CBD.
The Rocks is just like exploring a European old town, it's alleyways and lanes seems endless, the streets and architecture date form the early 1800's through to the early 20th century, but the overwhelming feeling is like a time warp. The area was established in 1788, and had previously been slums. During the first half of the 20th Century, due to disease or development, some of the oldest buildings from the 1700's were demolished, but by the 1960's, people began to realise the presevation of this old area was paramount. And thus today we have this beautiful old town in Sydney.
Contained within the Rocks are many restaurants, bars and shops (mostly directed at tourists). The crowds of tourists can make the area seem overwhelming, but there is always a quiet corner or alley, where you can find peace and contemplate the beauty of the area. The Rocks, nestles right under the harbour bridge and on Sydney Harbour.
