Photographer’s Note
ENGLISH: This is the Queen Victoria Building on George Street, Sydney. It was built in 1898 to replace the original Sydney Markets. It's highlights are the huge copper domes, the sandstone detailing in the Gothic style, the stained glass windows and tessilated tile floors.
Pierre Cardin described it as "the most beautiful shopping centre in the world". Not being much of a shopper myself, I couldn't argue with him. And even if you are not a shopper (not many could afford to buy anything in these shops), the architecture is certainly worth a look. As a glutton, I recommend the high tea available there with good coffee, tea and cakes.
In 1984 it was completely refurbished to what you see in this photo. Another beautiful shopping centre, in the same style but not the same scale is the nearby Strand Arcade also on George Street.
My Workshop shows the stained glass in more detail.

Hello Lisa,
A lady not being a shopper, I can't believe that :-) This is a splendid composition of this lovely Victorian architecture. Your point of view is very well chosen to show it off to great effect and the lighting is superb. Wonderful clear details and colour to see and admire. The people add much to the atmopshere. Fine work work, thanks for sharing. Have a good weekend.

Ciao Lisa,
bellissima immagine per grafismo e resa cromatica e bellissimo posto dove trascorrere un pò del proprio free time.
Spettacolare anche il WS con quella scala che dà molto movimento e dinamicità alla scena e che io avrei postato da solo.
A presto!

G'Day Lisa
With its rich decorations and warm colors it looks more like a maharajah palace than a shopping center... Nice interior image it seemed you came at a low business moment although I don't think this place hosts discount outlets to be stormed by masses ;-)
Have a nice week end JY

Hi Lisa,
QVB is definitely my favourite building in Sydney even before it was refurbished. I remember the days when the buidling was cladded with scaffoldings and safety nets all around it. The work was undertaken by a Malaysian company at that time. I also recall parking my car in its underground parking without taking note of the level it was parked, in the end I had to search through many levels.
Back to your photo, the quality of this shot is undisputable: perfect exposure all through without loosing any details, the colours resemble the actual and the symmetry is spot on. In term of composition, I prefer the one in the workshop which is very dynamic.
Looking forward to see you. You will create history as it will be the first time to have a female member in our meeting so far:)))
Cheers

Hi Lisa,
Captain Fantastic. This is a great composition.
I loved it from the moment I set my eyes upon it.
The colours are mesmerising. You have centred the framing perfectly.
I totally agree with Alftrek 'Quality Undisputable'.
In summary, I must say 'Mint Slice - Very Nice'.
Warm regards,
Graham.

A superb shot of a gracious old buildings Lisa - and away from the more touristed part. Great colours and the lines of tiles send your eyes in all sorts of directions.
I thought that the workshop photo was worth a separate posting with the great lines created by the stair case.
Cheers

Hello Lisa! Excellent quality of this picture. So clear, so strong in color and there are even some people window shopping or maybe simply enjoying the beauty of this building. What a place to spend some money, it most flow out of your hands ... okay it does this with me also in less attractive buildings ... LOL. Great shot, it really is, complimenti :))) Ciao, Barbara.

Hello Lisa
I am surprised to see that such a building exists in OZ - but then again I don't live in Sydney and don't mix in the right circles! The colours, the details and the wide angle all make this a spectacular composition. tfs, Marlene

Hi Lisa,
I remember the QVB from my visit in Sydney. I had read about it in my travel guide and really enjoyed looking around at the beautiful architecture.
While looking at my own photo here at TE of QVB I am trying to figure out where you took it.
Colors are beautiful as is sharpness.
Well done and thanks for bringing back memories!

Hi Lisa,
Wow! I've been there, but you have found a corner totally hiding all commercial aspects and leaving just perfect Victorian architecture, round forms and all the bright colours. Wide angle lens in optimal use.

Ciao Lisa

Hi Lisa,
this is really surprising! When I looked at the thumbnail (without reading the title) I was expecting a church. Very fascinating architecture indeed; excellently captured with a strong symmetry. The management of the light is outstanding. Great photo work and a very nice note!
