Photographer’s Note

This is part of Sydney Boys' Grammar. Obviously I did not go to school there, being neither a "boy" nor a grammar school type. And despite the fact that this school has produced some of Sydney's biggest prigs (and a few decent lawyers), the architecture is nice.

What an austere architecture for a school! I am glad I did not go to any similar school in all my life. I was a public school boy as my children also were.
It is a very nice shot with excellent compo and superb sharpness. I would like to see a wider view of the building too. Well done.

You have creatively selected then captured a truely superb [night] POV.
The light dances magnificantly creating daunting shadows.

Hello Lisa,

Interesting composition mainly by the lightning coming from the ground and drawing strange shadows on this front. It makes the building more severe.

So this is what you get up to hanging around the boys' school :-) A very appealing appealing night time capture of this lovely architecture. The tree is a nice addition on the left relieving the straight lines of the building. Pleasing warm colours and excellent clarity.

Ciao Lisa, I like this, the low light has cast some pretty amazing photos with an interesting graphical effect on this old & very institutional like building. Nice golden tones, contrast well with shadows. Well seen & very well well captured.

I like your comment.
I DID go to a boys' private school, here in Melbourne! However, I totally agree with the comment about prigs. I went to one reunion, about 20 years ago, and came away feeling strangely depressed, vowing never to attend another.
This one makes very good use of the stark shadows, perpendicular lines and golden lighting. It also hints at something slightly sinister, if you ask me! Great work.

Hello Lisa! We have some boy schools, private and very expensive ... I guess they still exist ... but actually for me this is very British if I may say so. You always find THESE corners, interesting to explore new sides ... most would oversee them. Great the light on the building, good quality night shot. Best regards, Barbara.
