Really?, a photo from New South Wales, East

Photographer's Note

I couldn't resist posting this image of Fantastic Man. Unlike Women's Day, where once a year women are celebrated and appreciated ;) every day is Man's Day. But I thought I would post a photo of a clean-shaven man as shortly it will be difficult to find one in Sydney. The entire month of November is known as Mo-vember. In order to raise funds and awareness of men's illnesses, particularly prostate cancer, and men's mental health; thousands of Sydney men (and some women) will be growing moustaches to support the Cause.

Hi Neighbour, the use of sepia tone goes well with the image of the "Fantastic Man" (I had to google it to find out what it was about). It was helpful that the reflected buildings were from a previous era. Looks like your weather is better than ours this weekend. Have a good one. cheers, Steve

Molto bella l'iniziativa novembrina, una nobilissima causa a favore delle malattie che purtroppo sono il flagello dell'umanità.! E a tale scopo mi sembra molto simpatica la scelta di questo bell'esemplare di uomo. Complimenti.

sempre le stesse schermaglie uomo/donna, ma le malattie accomunano tutti e per cercare di controllarle, tutte le iniziative sono buone (semore se fatte seriamente).
Anche la tua iniziativa contribuisce alla diffusione con questa bella foto che richiama gli anni 50.

questa foto appartiene ad un tema che amo molto.
Non il solito riflesso, ma un sovrapporsi di immagini dove a volte diviene difficile capire cosa è reale e cosa è riflesso.
Ottimo il trattamento in bianco e nero.
Se non fosse per l'auto moderna riflessa, sembrerebbe una foto d'epoca.

an original shot this and I love the sepia effect and the way you have presented it.

On a more serious point - your notes are about a subject that unfortunately I know all too much about. I was diagnosed at a very young age with prostate cancer and therefore am glad the message is getting out there. Hey Guys! Important to get yourself checked out regularly. Would not be commenting or posting if I had not by chance been tested!

Cara Lisa, la causa è nobile ma il soggetto lo vedrei ottimo per la pubblicità di un barbiere shop ehehehe...con quel taglio particolare anni 50, ottimo il trattamento del seppia che la rende simile ad una foto d'epoca....deliziosa la tua satira...bisogna sempre saper scherzare anche nei casi disperati...

If I'm not mistaken, I think thats George Formby! Whats he doing on the cover of fantastic man?? Ukelele monthly maybe..... This is a clever shot, I love how you have positioned the poster against the reflection of the beautiful building, and Sepia makes it feel its from another age.

We have Movember here in Ireland too, but I generally dont take part. My face fuzz grows in tufts of red and grey (combination of age and Irish heritage) and it looks like something you could scrape off a road early in the morning :) Its a good idea to raise money though.

How utterly remarkable that a photograph of me should turn up in a window 12,000 miles away in NSW!

Anyway, an interesting note - and I look forward to seeing pictures of hairy Sydney men in the forthcoming month - and an interesting picture too.

I think the sepia treatment and the limited contrast both work very well in this picture which certainly has an "olde worlde" look to it - very well done! And otherwise technically perfect (as always) with spot-on exposure and exquisite sharpness.

Street photography is gaining in popularity and I think that this is your second or third entry as such....... keep them coming they are fun but also powerful display on how society is evolving.
I like the composition which has different elements all around the image.

molto bella la composizione nel quadro verticale e le tonalita' sepia che insieme all' immagine del poster ci trasportano a tempi passati. Mi piace tantissimo la resa e la dissolvenza dei riflessi del mondo esterno e la loro interazione con lo sguardo sognante del fantastic man. Spero che il Movember abbia il successo desiderato!
