Photographer's Note
These are the Oceanides sculptures at the Fairy Bower ocean rockpool in Manly. They were created by sculptress Helen Leete in 1997 and modelled on the sea nymphs (Okeanides or Oceanides) of Greek mythology. I have several different photos of the Oceanides in my Gallery, but have not posted a Black & White photo of them before, which I dedicate to Mike (MJW364).

Hello Lisa,
nice rendering of this achievement in black and white with these sculptures who went to broke, harmoniously, the horizontality of the whole.
Good work

Ciao cara Lisa,
buona serata,

Lisa thanks for the dedication. A great shot in BLACK N WHITE! Did u use nik software on this? I like the effect u got from the long exposure. Sharp and well exposed. Like the off centre subject and the sky.
Viva black n white!

Hi Lisa
a striking graphical composition this enhanced attractively by the use of B&W. A double whammy as you have managed to turn art into a piece of two dimensional art!. Well done I love it!
Warm wishes - Brian.

Ciao Lisa
25 seconds in the middle of the day, the filter is kind of blocking every light available. I like the texture of the sky and water while the sculpture is very net.
Have a nice day

Hi Lisa - Even without the sculptures this would be a great B&W image. The four horizontal layers with complimentary tones and textures are beautifully captured with a very good tonal range and smoothness. The elegant curves of the figures complete a superb shot. I love the way the light is adding soft highlights to the curves. Lovely work, that Big Stopper is worth every cent.

Ciao cara Lisa,
Foto e dedica eccezionali, complimenti e grazie!
Tanti saluti e buona giornata,
Ourania

Beautiful composition with a range of shade of B & W. The artwork, is as yo say - moddled on the sea nymphs, but to me, prior to reading your notes, looked like the tall antlers of an antelope. The sea has a beautiful gleam and silkiness. In contrast, the land mass looks rough with craggy rocks and boulders.
The sky has a wave like formation, adding to the spirit of the beautiful scenery.
Thanks for sharing.

Ciao Lisuccia
lo avevo detto io che eri una musa delle acque, qui c'è la prova, ti hanno dedicato anche questa scultura.
La prossima opera devono dedicartela in onore delle magnifiche foto che condividi con noi che a loro volta sono opere anch'esse.

Gidday Lisa,
One word for this, beautiful. A really fantastic black and white image, those statues as strange and wonderful as they are, look perfectly natural in the scene. I love how you have caught them on the rock like this with the sea on either side, and that amazing wispy sky to top it all off. This show has perfect tones and is so incredibly sharp! Beautiful, thanks for sharing.

Really lovely shot, Lisa - the long exposure and B&W treatment create a timeless feel, as these two figures are locked in an eternal dance (or struggle?) Hard to tell which.

Ciao Bambina !!
I am just starting to appreciate B & W photos ..... and of course one like this reinforces the cause. I like the position of the statues of centre and I find incredible the neat definition between water & sky.
also that filter of yours..... it soften the water surface quite nicely.
by the way..... my photo this week has a bit of similarity to yours.....
Nice day for a BBQ today
Cheers from Moss Vale
Un calido abrazo.

Hello Naughty One Kanobi,
Hum, This image is just begging for me to say something naughty, but I'll try to control myself. It is a form of art. Anyway, it has nothing to do with sensuality about it, or does it. Is the one of the right a male, with bigger thigh, I love men with muscular legs, I just can’t escape that one wrap inside, and I love how flexible they are, though made out of metal, but flexible like gummies these two :)
I like the black and white presentation, no need for colors here. It is as good if not better.

Hi Lisa,
It is a well-chosen framing, in a straight-angle shot that works very well graphically, and gives a nice perspective to the elegant sculptures. The light and the light contrast have a beautiful effect on the elements. Well executed B&W photo. Have a nice weekend.
