This is again Merry Beach in Kioloa on the South Coast of New South Wales. This photo is the reverse view from my previous photo of the same place.

a beautiful shot this. It has a romantic appeal about it and that comes I think from the intense relationship between the earth and sky here. Glorious light in the sky and mirrored in the water so exquisitely. Executed perfectly as always and a magnificent presentation. Like it a lot!

Great title Lisa, perfect for the pastels which are beautifully rendered in this view. I just love the pink tones especially those on the bank of cumulus on the horizon. The pink reflection on the pools of water are also finely captured and they contrast attractively with the steely blue-grey reflections of the sky. Nature's paintbrush provided you with good opportunities and you shot has done more than justice to the display. Beautiful and a pleasure to view. Warm regards rosemary

I don't want to look stupid, but what is the Barbie Hour. I like this shot a lot and the use of the filter provide a long exposure that provide a nice texture on the water and the sky.

Like Serge, I've never heard the term 'Barbie Hour' - please educate me! I'm assuming it has something to do with the pink hue of parts of the sky...

I like the symmetry of this shot, with the rocks at right standing in for a reflection of the cliff face. The sand creates some fascinating patterns, leading up to the shore and then to the very colorful sky. Great exposure time too, smoothing the water but maintaining the shape of those waves rolling in. Thanks!

Gidday Lisa,

You have such superb skies, and this is no exception. The ribbons of red light through the sky is really beautiful, and such a bonus that it reflects on the wet sand too. Then we have wonderful crashing waves. Superb image with lots of beautiful elements to enjoy. The streak of red in the sky looks almost like a hand reaching down into the ocean. A lovely place.

Thanks for your comments on my pics Lisa, and regarding what you said about the Irish government and the Magdelenes, yes, it is a tragic fact that the current prime minister seems to be doing everything to avoid making a full state apology. I suspect that this more to do with the potential for a class action lawsuit that his own pride, but nonetheless, a horrible thing for those poor women. Our minister for children was on a talk show last week, and the audience happily booed and hissed at her when she said it was beyond her ability to convince the prime minister to change his mind.
Some politicians really show themsevels as snivelling cowards at times.

Hello Lisa,
I´ve just compared this one with your previous shot from this place.It has the same romantic and pleasant mood,but I like that you´ve enclosed in the frame the cliff on the right.I find this kind of coast very picturesque.And the touch of pink in the sky is just marvelous.I could admire this beautiful view for hours.If only blue hour could last longer:)

yes...very nice!
thats exactly what i said to myself as i viewed this for the first time.
Its funny....with Tosca loving these beach type photos, rocky shorelines and such - she hasn't even mentioned about traveling to Australia! perhaps its just so far away its kind of out of sight out of mind type of thinking. but she would love it in places like this.
its refreshing to see some orange pinkish tones in the skyline, livens it up a bit.
its just a lovely shot...what can i say? :)

This is a very attractive landscape, simple in terms of layers of elements, but complex with its texture, both on the beach and in the sky.

You played it safe this time, not risking to get wet and keeping your distance from the waves and focusing on the reflections on the water surface.

This is a substantial picture of the early morning or late afternoon (??) sky, there are so many lovely and interesting elements that make it spectacular. I like very much the composition and the fascinating sky colors and and the soft reflections on the water. The dark rocks in water and landscape anchors the composition and the distant horizont reflect the shapes of the white clouds. The atmosphere is really suggestive. Well done IMO.

questa è una grandissima foto e ne puoi andare ben fiera!
Il paesaggio ripreso è spettacolare, ma tu l'hai saputo riprendere in maniera superba, cogliendone, grazie alla grande profondità di campo scelta, tutte le infinite sfumature di colore e trasformando con il lento tempo si scatto il mare in un fazzoletto di bianchi e blu.
Sei stata bravissima e il risultato si vede: nitidezza e colori dominano incontrastati e aiutano a sognare questi angoli di mondo.

Awesome image with a peaceful atmosphere with the pastel sky almost like a watercolour. Really like the composition and very clever with the foreground interest. the silky water and the sheen on the reflection lift the image to make it that more special. Colour, clarity and contrast are just beautiful. I think this is one of the best I have seen. Congrats.

Hello Lisa,

From your message, I have just learned the meaning of 'Barbie Hour'. I suppose I should have worked it out myself, but its good to have the terminology confirmed. I've a feeling it might drop into general usage at my home!
A beautifully composed shot, really using the idea of thirds. I like the contast between the smooth, mirror-like reflections in the f/g and the beating surf in the b/g. The sky colours are lovely.

beautiful composition. This one is even more attractive than the previous one, I believe.
I like the fragment of the coast in the right. Together with the rocks it makes a pleasant triangle cutting into the frame and conributing to a nice geometry.
The composition is so well thought through! Amazing performance with the DOF just perfect.
The title very suitable and funny.
Excellent work, I have to finally make use of the fact that I am waking up almost every day in the middle of the night -and I should stand up and go for some shooting at strange hours...

Missed this one and it's a corker! Wonderful reflections in the water especially the patch of orange sky which gives a superb warm cold colour contrast. Good sharpness and well composed using the rule of thirds. Good shadow detail in the cliff, & tfs!
