Photographer's Note
Markets are such great places for tourists, photographers and locals. They're always full of character, often culture and of course excellent produce. This is a photo of the Eveleigh Farmers' Market. The market is situated in part of the old Eveleigh Carriageworks, an old inner city suburb of Sydney. The produce market runs every Saturday between 8am and 1pm and the artisans' market is held the first Sunday of the month.
The carriageworks were built between 1880 and 1889 and were responsible for the construction of all trains in the state. In 1973, the carriageworks declined and they were eventually closed. Thankfully in 2002, the State Government purchased the site. The part you see is used for markets and the warehouses have been renovated and are used as theatres, exhibition and function halls.

Hi Lisa, I love markets, specially with fruits and vegetables, fish markets are also interesting. Thkis one do not seem very exotic, like Asian markets, but still very interesting. Nice construction, amazing depth. Attractive place, nice to explore.

Good morning Lisa
What a strong persective thanks to your high POV of this crowdy market, but I find a general yellow hue (I think you don't change your balance of the whites and stay with a sunshine setting instead of shadow) and the outside at left is overexposed. Try again!
Cheers

Good afternoon Lisa,
What you were not able to convey is the ongoing tumult within the hall of such a place, as markets always have.
But yet, with all the people in picture, i can imagine the roar there...
Good shot over from high POV, depth and clarity were super.
Vibrant & intriguing place.
Enjoy a nice weekend,
Ike

Ciao Lisuccia
una profondità eccezionale, tante le persone ed i particolari che si incontrano lungo il percorso.
Forse i colori non sono proprio esatti, ma la luce calda a me piace.
Salutissimi

Hey Lisa,
I have to admit, even though I dont like shopping, I do like a good market. This photo really captures the atmosphere of such laces, bustling with people, dozens of transactions at any moment, filled with produce and people and personality. Really nicely done with this. I do wonder though, where you stood to take this? I am picturing in my mind you standing above everybody there on a couple of dozen wooden crates :) Fantastic depth here too, great shot.
All the best

The old way of commerce. We still have that and it's quite picturesque. Well seen, nice atmosphere.

Hey Lisa
so do I have to get in the middle and break up the fight between you and Claude? lol
Even if you took this photo to 'lightroom' it would be hard to correctly expose this shot (the left side). Sometimes you just have to go with it.
As for the yellowish tones....for me, there is something 'correct' about it. you're under the roof of what looks like a wharehouse, so the lighting isn't going to be perfect. it seems to match the walls and the flooring, so to me its more of a continuation of the theme...know what i'm saying?
works well for me.
If there's food here for sale, Tosca's all in!
certainly a different shot, i like it.
cheers

Cara Lisa,
buona domenica...

Hello Lisa,
Excellent photo from very lively market place. The framing is IMO excellently chosen, the colors are also very well controlled.
The deep depth of field is integral in showing the market life around but still allowing the metal structures of the hall to remain one of major focal points. I like it!

Hi Lisa,
bello questo mercato antico, super popolato da persone che ben animano la scena.
Mi piace l'atmosfera retrò data dalla struttura antica dell'edificio che va in contrasto con gli abiti moderni dei visitatori.
Well done and thank you for sharing.

Ciao cara Lisa,
Complimenti e grazie!
Tanti saluti e buona settimana,
Ourania

Ciao cara Lisa,
Quite a different sort of picture from you this time - but a fine one too. And an interesting note about this place.
What a fabulously "busy" photograph with lots and lots of things and people and activities to look at, lovely true colours and excellent sharpness. I can see what others have said about the overly bright areas on the left but that would be very difficult to correct and, in any case, I don't find it at all upsetting.
Lovely!
Kind Regards,
John.
P.S. Curiously enough, I've just been watching Andrew Marr's "History of the World" on the telly and learned about Bennelong who apparently lived in a house where your lovely Opera House now stands. Fascinating story about him and the British settlers.

Hi Lisa,
Those brown colours fit perfectly with the old fashioned feeling of this place. Did you give some toning or is it all result of tinted glasses?
Good viewpoint higher than others. It's good that there's flowers on the foreground stall as a samlpe of what the place has to offer.
Great to see that this location rail transport history retains it's old feeling though in different usage. I have to admit though that Sydney's old tram depot site on Bennelong Point is in better use nowadays!

Nice, busy market shot - and you found a great angle to capture it all, looking down the lane from a high perch. The color cast is perfect, giving it a bit of a gritty, older feel, perfect for this kind of market. So much to take in here!

Hi Lisa.
Nice atmospheric shot with strong perspective and good presentation of the architectural features as well as the market activity. We have these markets down here too, but I haven't seen one this busy. Thanks for the map ref - I don't really know that part of Sydney at all.

Hi Lisa,
I love markets too, I wish we had a permanent one here in Brisbane, apparently there will be one soon...that said, the weekend markets around the city are great. Having just returned from Asia again, I love the how the markets are part of daily life there, and of course the food...street food rocks!
This market here looks very atmoshperic, and your shot has such graphical depth..excellent!
Cheers
Justin
