First Swim of 2013, a photo from New South Wales, East

This is the ocean rock pool at Coogee Beach. I've posted a few photos of this place before. The photo was taken at about 8pm on 1 January 2013, just after my first swim of the year.

$6 Million for those Fireworks! wow, who was hitting the fire button...Celine Deon? lol

Oh i'm going to make a prediction that this photo of yours will be a winner, very popular, or as you say a 'cracker'! ?

its funny to hear about going for an outdoor swim, but its because its our Winter

anyways, a very soothing, smooth shot with wicked atmosphere.

Nice way to ring in the new year, Lisa! The differnt water textures in and out of the pool are really cool here - nice and placid in FG, blurred and misted from motion and the long exposure in the ocean itself. Beautiful lighting as well. Hope you had a splendid new year's day, and that the swim was a good way to top it off!

Ciao cara Lisa,
la geometria esaltata dalla tua composizione evoca eleganza, equilibrio ed armonia. Mi paciono tantissimo le tonalita' calde e fredde e la loro gradazione, come si spengono le une dentro le altre. La gestione della luce mattinale e' magnifica. Un modo stupendo di prepararsi per l' avventura del nuovo anno. Complimenti e grazie!

Hello Lisa,
A swim on New Year's Day; but I bet you were a damn sight warmer than those people who take an annual dip in the Serpentine in London's Regent Park on the first day of the year! As for the composition, that is quite marvellous, making excellent use of the graphical lines offered by the groynes, that sit so beautifully against that beautiful blue background. Hi Lisa
super shot and a place you have shown us a few times. Although I live 1000m from the sea, there is a cat in hells chance of me diving into the Channel even on the 1st July which would be the equivalent timing here in the northern hemisphere. Nevertheless I love the idea of paddling into the waters here. This is a beautifully executed and presented shot of this idyllic rock pool.

After uou said that you took your first swim of the year I said to myself that you drank to much for the new year and then I remembered that it is summer down under.
This is a very nice pool to swim in and a perfet subject for you camera. Very well done.

Hi Lisa, great use of the walls, providing a path for the viewer out to the horizon. Colours are great - does this mean that you've sorted your colour issue?

Hello Lisa,

tha's definitely a place where I'd like to swim to cure all the excesses of the holiday celebrations. I like the way the artificial and natural lighting blend together. Along with the slow shutter time, it gives your shot a soothing effect, well suited to peacefully start 2013.

This is a real beauty, the colours and composition, and the wonderful smooth effect on the water are all totally cool. Such a simple subject, but such a rich result. And you were swimming at 8pm on a January night? Oh, to be able to do that in Ireland. Well, in fairness some people do, but I dont think the blue tint your skin has when getting out of the Irish sea is my colour. At least, thats my excuse as I head for the pub instead :)

Hi Lisa, With simple set-up you have created striking and intriguing image, proving that you that you don’t need much for great photographs.
The lighting, exposure and focusing is exactly as it should be, creating a tack sharp image.

the colour tones in this scene are wonderful, very appealing and full of atmosphere. i love the line of concrete criss-crossing the frame and leading us towards the open water. i guess a swim on jan 1st in oz is a different ball game to a swim on jan 1st in irelend.
