Photographer's Note
This is one of the many buildings on Cockatoo Island, the largest island in Sydney Harbour. This island was at various times in our history an imperial prison, a reformatory, an industrial school, a gaol and the site of the largest shipyard in Australia. The drydock was first completed by convicts in 1857 and was in use for over one hundred years. The site was World Heritage Listed in 2010 and can be accessed by ferry from Balmain. The title of my photo refers to the infamous bushranger (outlaw) Captain Thunderbolt who was one of the few prisoners to escape from this island prison. In more recent times, this island has been used in the making of films such as X Men and other local Australian productions. The photo was taken during a meeting with other TE'ers: IFege, PHWall, Burraburra and Farnsey.

Hello Lisa,
Good use of the wide angle to evidence the size of this building, and to play with all the metal lines and perspective shared by this point of view.
I also like the variety of colors which is giving rythms when reading the shot.

Ciao Lisa,
buona giornata...

Hi Lisa,
Great shot, I love the many lines that pull the eye from here to there and everywhere and I love how you have filled the frame. Nice history too, this place has seen many people come and go.
Thanks for sharing.
Best wishes from a dodgy B&B in Cork :) Work brings me around Ireland at times, and I've just been down at Irelands second tallest building, a whole 15 stories. LOL
Have a nice thursday!

Among the many attention grabbing aspects of the shot is definitely the title - it made me skip the photo entirely and go the note first, which I almost never do (and I'm glad I did, as it's most interesting!)
An interesting, and I think effective, focus on the walls and structure of the building rather than of the full interior - we certainly get an idea of the industrial nature of the place through the steel repetition of the girders. Nice varied light breaks up the vertical lines well.

Ciao Lisuccia
un grande capannone industriale, ben ripreso, con un bel controllo della luce, dove profondità e nitidezza ci fanno apprezzare tutti i dettagli.
Una foto molto diversa da quelle a cui ci hai abituato.
Salutissimi

Hello Lisa,
Very nice and interesting building. What I like the most about this picture is the height and the light. You must have felt like you were into a cathedral. Great field of depth and perfect composition.
Have a nice day

lately you were looking for many ghosts, Lisa, but this one, with the much history enfolded in your note - I can't see any of those about.
A good clarity on an indoor's photo, simple iron structure apllied a nice image.

Hi Lisa
I remember this place, or at least in think i remember this a couple years ago.
and you know i'm going to like this rustic garbage style of subject! its right up my alley.
the only thing missing is a little bit more dirt, grime, and broken down machinery :)
wicked history of this place, lots of stories in these walls!
awesome subject.

Hi Lisa
Captain Thunderbolt must more than happy looking at this beautiful picture of his former playground Lisa! Worth the effort and you have transformed this from moody to cheery colorful sight and the dynamic compo makes for me so close to the subject, and lovely how you have framed the shot so the left hand side leads into the scene smoothly. Every available space is maximised competently in good natural lighting and really gives a feel of the size, the insight and atmosphere in excellent contrast and colors. Just think its a great historic shot, its overall impact and you have made this really stands out.
Well done, TFS
Warm regards

Hello Lisa,
A great use of light and simple colors. A well presented crop allows eyes to remain fixed on the steel structures. This is a really a good example of technical architecture photography. Well done.

Hello Lisa,
Quite a history this island has! I like the strength of the lines of this structure and the range of blue/green metallic colours. A successful shot with a feeling of abandonment.
Best wishes, Ann

Ciao cara Lisa,
Complimenti e grazie!
Tanti saluti e buona giornata,
Ourania
