This is a location that is a little tricky to access . It is a pleasant 30-40 minute walk from the car parking area which takes you across a headland covered in bushland, along a beach (Moonee Beach) , around another headland (Flat Rock) and then along the length of Ghosties Beach to the southern end. It is a walk through sea cave with an entrance from the beach off to the left of this mouth which opens out to the sea. It would make a spectacular spot for a sunrise shoot under the optimum tidal conditions however the drive (about 60 + minutes from where I live) followed by the time taken to walk there in the dark over tricky terrain??? Not anything I shall try any time soon. For those interested in getting there the car park is very much the south end of Catherine Hill Bay . Also take some insect repellent as mosquitoes seem to be a problem inside the cave itself. I have read that there is also a petrified forest which can sometimes be seen after a big sweep strips away the sand but this was not seen on our visit. There are plenty of rock pools and apparently it is a big spot for surfing and also scuba diving. The flat rocky platform nearby is popular with rock fisherman and sadly there have been a number of deaths in recent years where the fishermen/women have been caught unaware by the irregular swells and washed to their deaths, including a family of 5 people.
This shot was taken in full daylight, mid afternoon and so I used a big stopper to give me the long exposure.

Ciao e buona giornata

love this! It is like you are peering into a blue grotto at the very edge of the Earth. The filter adds to the effect but your accomplished execution makes it both original and beautiful. Awesome!

I can tell that you have had fun and a tad excitement, experimenting with this shot! The long exposure has calmed the sea beautifully, whilst the filter has produced a mood more like evening than full daylight.
The irregular, natural frame gives immediate interest, followed by appreciation of being inside this electric blue grotto.
Have a great day,

J'aime beaucoup cette composition entre bleu et noir et la légère lueur de teinte chaude au niveau de la ligne d'horizon.Vous avez réalisé ici une très belle image.

I enjoy exploring sea caves and your view gives me a chance to feel and visualize Ghosties Sea Cave. Serene for the calm deep blue water, yet respect is necessary to avoid danger.
The rock window is mystical.
Thanks for sharing,

Oooh I love this. The Big Stopper has worked a beauty here. I love those deep blue tones, the flattened sea and the silhouetted parts of the cave. So brave of you to enter a tidal cave like this, no matter whether it's low or high tide. So extra brownie points on top of the great photo quality brownie points. But please be careful :)
