'' OUTBACK HORSE '', a photo from New South Wales, East

Photographer's Note

Visiting a small outback town named '' Burra '' in far New South Wales ' Australia ' I saw this beautiful horse looking for someone to take some notice of him.
On this particular day this beautiful horse - like me - was enduring high temps in the low to mid 40's I felt so sorry for him as there was not a single shady tree for him to rest under.
The landscape around the horse is typical to the region.

Hello Dawn,
He is rather a handsome beast and seems very interested in the photographer. The colours of his coat make him blend into the parched landscape very well. I like how you have shown him in context with the farm buildings behind. Good colours and clarity.

This is a good presentation of this horse in a natural landscape. I like the way the horse seems to be looking at you. The colors are soft under a good light.

Beautiful horse, Dawn, lloking strait to the camera with curiousity.
Picture a bit overexposed, which was easy to pre-fix while taking the photo. Nevertheless, the area appear to be dry landscape, so the extra yellow/brown tone is adequate.

Hi Dawn,
What a beautiful animal, and his colour is such a great contrast to the dry and arid landscape behind him. I cannot comprehend being that temperature with no shade (being Irish, I get sunburn from bright light bulbs), but I would say if this fellow saw your shot, he would be very happy with the attention he got. I sometimes see horses on my travels as well, but have been somewhat reluctant to snap them, as I am wary of their moods. I learned recently how much can be told about his mood from the posiition of his ears, and if I am not mistaken, this guys ears say he is as interest in you as you were in him :)

It is indeed a beautiful horse and nicely captured with good lighting and dof with sharp details. I like the color of the horse. Well done, tfs.

(I too am scared of heights but the good thing about the Grand Canyon, which I'm planning of visiting again maybe next week, it has a strong iron railings and it makes me feel secure. And Bryce Canyon also have strong iron railings which allows me to take those pictures.)

This is real animal cruelty, horses with 40° Celsius middle of the meadow without shelter against the sun.
I hope that he gets water.

A lovely composition and positioning of the horse benefiting from a more space, you have cropped It's nice to see the vast expanse of emptyness leading to the horizon too for this creates a sense of isolation and vulnerablilty while keeping as close leaves him more dominant without being stressed. It is a nice enough picture that does fit nicely with the alone conveying this mood would be really interesting and have a bit of a story rather than just more cute picture of horse and I think that is important. The bright lighting is managed nicely without any harshness with adequate clarity in particular on her face I think you mst made a really great effort to capture something unique about this place, the inhibitants and their unique landscape of the steaming outback in dry hot summer. Imho these colors can still be enhanced. Absolutely an excellent picture for TE entry, Well done.

Oh you poor things standing out there in that merciless heat! I'm surprised you had the energy to raise your camera and that he had the energy to pose for you! He almost seems to have taken on the reddish tinge of the earth around him. Excellent colours and good light management despite the blazing sun.

the name sounds curious in portuguese. Burra is a "female donkey" here. haha.
