This is a place you've seen in my Gallery before, it's the rockpool at Bronte Beach. When Kari was here in January 2014, we drove here for some photos. This shot was taken a few months after that, during Autumn. This pool is rumoured to be haunted, although I have no specific stories to recount to you. Have a look closely at the left part of the image. I haven't cloned it out so you could see it. I can't explain it, maybe you can. The image was taken just after sunset, where the sun set in the west (behind me and about 20 minutes before) and here we are looking east. I did not see any light flare at the time and the light source was behind me to my far right.

If you are referring to the round slightly bright shape at the bottom left, then what is it a ghost of? A beach ball? Let's weight up the possibilities here. It could be a weak flare from one of several light sources around here (the pool appears to have lights in it, and there are white surfaces reflecting light on the right). Or it could be a ghost, something that does not exist. Which would you opt for?
Anyway, the photo has interesting light effects in the water and nice clouds in the sky.

Great image. Love the dark sky and the contrast between the water in the pool and the water in the ocean. I am not a religious person but I like the idea of ghosts, spookiness and the unexplainable.

Gidday Lisa Bronte,
Looks like a fine place for an evening swim, and hopefully the ghosts are friendly?
The path and railing curving into the horizon, separating the misty pool from the ocean add to the atmosphere.
Being in the Sierra Nevada foothills, I do miss the beaches.
Thanks for sharing,

Rather strange shape for a ghost, still you never know your luck - did you feel a presence? I like the composition with the railing sweeping round the frame adding some graphism and creating depth. Also, the light and colours. There are more things in heaven and earth Horatio .......

I remember seeing this place on your gallery, and also recall you had writtenb it is a hunted place. So, I had taken extra few minutes waiting for some enlightenment to be brightening - and maybe, just maybe I would finally be lucky to see a ghost...
Nevertheless, you had posted yet another of your masterfully applied photo about this place.
Had not have extra beer just prior to this...? my humor only.

Ciao cara Lisa,
I don't really believe in spooks and, quite honestly, that round brighter area at bottom left does look remarkably like a typical light flare but quite what has been the origin of it I'm not sure - I certainly can't see anything which might be its cause, unless it's just outside your frame.
Anyway, what really appeals to me here is the wonderful light which you have caught so impressively. You haven't given us the benefit of your exif data but I presume that this was taken during the "blue hour" and the sky is of a wonderful colour, contrasting well with the deeper indigo of the sea. Your composition is excellent, the line of the path and the fence leading the eye well into the image and the whole composition is held together by the rocks and other fences and paraphernalia on the distant right. I love the light in the pool too - almost iridescent.
A lovely photograph with gorgeous light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.

Strange and original picture with interesting use of the low speed in the blue hour
Well done dear

I like the nuances of blue , and more specially the turquoise of the pool. Long exposure gives a special teratmnt to the pool, like a glacial lake. Great sharpness and light management.

Signori fate largo per cortesia, sta entrando....
La signora delle acque.
Accompagnata da uno dei suoi modelli preferiti, carico di tanti ricordi, ripreso in più modi, ma ogni volta è diversa.
Complimenti per lo scatto

Gidday my ghostly DB. :)
Hmmm, what could it be...or the better question, who?? With the mystical type of result you've achieved here due to the long exposure, this intrigue and mystery plays right into the hands of the imagery and our personal curiosities.
Aside from the ghoulish thoughts rattling around my brain, I'm loving the three shades of blue here. Sorry, only three...50 is too much to ask! lol The hazy effect over the pool really does incite a mystical vibe, and really paints the scene in a fun and fascinating manner, especially at dusk. Whatever the orb may be, it's fun to imagine. :) Take good care down there. Have a great afternoon.
Cheers from the top half,
I noticed somewhere earlier that you've been keeping up with Craig, how are they doing over there? I'm excited to see what he comes back with.

Une autre vision originale de cet endroit que, visiblement, tu as plaisir à photographier.

Ciao Car Lisa,
It could be light flare but I prefer the less scientific explanation!
I was wondering how you had connections with the Brontes, way down there in Australia, since the Brontes lived in Yorkshire, but it all became clear!
You have chosen a fine viewpoint to use the natural curve as a guide and to introduce us to the wonderful lighting effects; the blue tones are an artist's dream.
Have a great day,
Thank you for the detailed info you gave me about your involvement with the protests. I admire your selfless commitment and dedication. People like you are so important in protecting our fragile world. x x

very interesting indeed and reading your note made me feel a little bit strange :-) However the picture looks just amazing and I love the contrast between very sharp elements of the composition and those which got slightly smoothed by longer exposure. Very good pOV to show the beauty of this place as well. Great colors and contrast.
I do enjoy it a lot!
Thanks for sharing

cannot see me venturing into this pool, I have a fear of getting out of my depth, stick a ghost in with that and that's me outta here. It looks wonderful though, so I would happily stay on the edge and take some pictures. Love the light and contrasting elements, plus the water itself looks decidedly spooky too, let alone the amoeba like orb creeping into shot in the left corner. Thought provoking image Lisa and all the more so when you throw in a haunting!! :-0 ....OOO!
Regards - B.

You always do something very special with those pool. No mistake here, it is simply stunning. Very nice light and colors.
I am flying to Rome tonight, so I think I will come back a little bit heavyer.
williewhistler (14847) 2014-05-22 6:52
well there is definitely something about those lovely patterns in the water but I`m not sure just what it could be..I do however enjoy the blue hour sky and the overall ethereal effect of the long exposure.
Noel_Byrne (25916) 2014-05-22 10:33
Boo! haha, that is cool, I wonder what this orb is? It seems to be in a weird place and does not look like a sunflare, and also strange that it showed in one place in this beautiful long exposure.
I love how the water looks in this too, like some portal to another spooky world, and not a pool I would be too keen to dive into! The blue tones are superb, and the lighting is just sublime.
I always love a good spooky place, so thanks in particular for this!
All the best

pleasant and fondle eye pay sage you captured.
marabu61 (8931) 2014-05-22 13:43
Beautiful place and superbly photographed indeed. The soft pastel color of the pool contrast so nicely with the blue sky above it. It is a very moody and romantic shot.
As to ghosts, I am much to much a down to earth person to believe in anything that can't be proven. But one never knows .... maybe you have really captured one there if you can't explain from where the flare could come from.
have a great time

Ciao cara Lisa, Another romantic shot from your favorite place. Nicce memories for me too :).

Hi dear Lisa
Belle prise a heure bleu, le POV avec la courbe du "chemin", le rendu flouté de l'eau dans le bassin, un contraste extraordinaire des couleurs, très belle image
Belle soirée a toi
mirosu (15074) 2014-05-30 0:20
Nice perspective, but I'd say outstanding light and color combination. The nice smooth bright pool water and the beautiful blue sky are in perfect color balance.
Excellent arrangement with the round pool walkway which excellently leading eye through the photo. I like it.
Very well done.

Ciao Lisa, quando tramonta il sole e ci sei tu con la camera è spettacolo assicurato, favolosa ora blu, fantastica esposizione, bravissima
annjackman (20317) 2014-06-07 2:46
A ghostly shot it is. The colours are very appealing and I like the effect of the long exposure on the water. There are very well placed elements in this composition so very well done for choosing this particular viewpoint.
Best wishes, Ann

ghosts and goblins and gools...hmm...my favorite type of subjects that i've YET to capture. Maybe one day i'll get lucky :)
unlike John and Noel who are skeptics, i 100% believe in ghosts and spirits and the para normal type of activities!
Maybe I shouldn't have said that out loud lol
in all probability its just a lens flare, but what do i know. I'd be so excited and stoked to have a ghost in my shot!
So what haunted stories have you heard about this pool? did someone drown here? murdered here? hmmm...love those stories. there's nothing better than getting creeped out! lol
lovely shot Lisa. the effect of the water in the pool, the contrasting blue hour sky, the railing, and everything just looks so smooth. Very nice.
I really like my newest post from Greece (hehe)
ourania (33797) 2014-07-11 13:15
Hello dear Lisa,
even though it will soon be midnight here in Greece, I decided to be brave and have a good look at this photo. The transparent shape to the left is a great addition, whatever the reason that made it appear there. It adds a story and a special atmosphere, it also made me look around more carefully, wondering if there were any more hiding among the patterns and hues of the pool. You illuminated this scene masterfully, there are magnificent colours and a haunting stillness all over. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely weekend,
