I'd planned on doing a dawn shoot last Sunday, but slept in and missed the pre-dawn colours (which were amazing). In order to get to this part of the rock ledge there is no path, you've got to scramble over quite large rocks which were covered with green slime. In my haste and in the half-light, I fell quite heavily down a rock and into some water. Nothing serious though, the things we do for a photo. So I dedicate this to Craig, who is currently travelling in Europe. He knows why.

I have had more than my fair share of slipping and sliding in the quest for the right picture, so I can sympathise! This is, indeed, a great shot. Well framed and ideally exposed. Gorgeous light and colours. What more can I say, except that lately I always seem to have run out of smilies when I come across your postings. Sorry, again:-(

Eye catching rocky oceanfront scene with the low tide exposing the underwater plants to the surface, and a pool reflecting the sky's clouds, then the distant sun burst over Bondi.
and sorry about the fall,

What a shot. I read you say you are okay, and in that case I feel okay to say it was well worth falling into the sea for! The sunrise is spectacular, and has created an amazing smoke effect over the sky. The rays of light have breathed brilliant life into this covering of seaweed, which is as green as jade. The reflective pond on the left is the icing on the very wonderful cake. Its like 4 photos in one. Class :)
And if it makes you feel any better, I once fell backwards into the reflecting pool in Dublins garden of remembrance, I once bounced down the hill at Loughcrew Cairns on my arse, and I once got bitten on the nose by a small crab at the Giants Causeway. The things we do is right, hehehehe.
Have a great Wednesday. Hump day already!

ah ha,now I recognise this place and those rocks,I see that you did have the benefit of an attractive morning sky on this occasion, next time I`ll do better.
Hopefully it was only a minor fall, but please always take the greatest care as well as a tripod.

the nice reflections of the sky and the clouds on the small pond between the rocks, the green tones of the slime, and the wonderful effect of the setting sun behind the silhouette of the coastal landscape, create a breathtaking and calm image.
You've caught the special atmosphere of the sunset skilfully, in a photo with a perfect colors and a great light.

amazing pay sage with attractive sunrise you captured.

Amazing light, that provides nice effect of contrast between dark rocks and green slime. The framing is really eautiful, with a great sky.

very impressive photo. The low light situations offer the best opportunities but are as well the most challenging. Only a master like yourself can turn them to the advantage. The composition here is stunning, so well thought through: it consists of several elements each of which could be sufficient to make a great shot itself. The sky is fabulous with great colors and interesting pattern, reflection in the puddle 100% with bluish color tones, and the surface of the rocks subtly touched by the first rays of the sun.
Excellent work, one from which we can learn so much here,

Je suis bien incapable de réaliser une telle photo et je reste admiratif devant votre technique. C'est superbe.

C'mon now, who sleeps in on a weekend anyway? Oh, right...all of us! :) Looks like you still made it in time to catch this beauty moment though, albeit a little worse for the wear getting here. lol I think it's safe to say, you've coined our ideology to perfection...yes indeed, "The things we do." :)) And you know what, we'll continue to do 'em for the sake of the perfect shot, right?
Well worth the troubles, and I'd say you've captured and produced plenty of rich colors...even if you didn't quite make the desired timing. There's just something magical about the first light of the day, and the sense of peace and calm, with a side of anticipation for the new day, is well conveyed with this one. Glad you were able to drag yourself out of bed for this shot. lol Enjoy the rest of your day. Take it easy.
Cheers from the hot box,
Loved your note today, made me chuckle. :)

Brava come sempre.

Hello dear Lisa
The FG is fascinating...the algae (?) clinging onto the wet dark rocks, illuminated by the slanted rays of the first light...and the tidal pool on the left. I think these elements alone make for a fine picture. The BG of the sea and the rising sun of course add the brilliant light...Fantastic shot!
macjake (51264) 2014-06-13 5:07
haha...yes, this is certainly a moment that I can relate to 100%!
glad to hear that you're ok and nothing serious happened, perhaps nothing more than a bruised ego :)
So you slept in eh? yeah I guess we've all done that a few times before too. Nothing better than some beauty rest :)
Tosca would be in heaven here as well as you. I really like the water and how its sectioned off, one in the fg and another section above it. Wicked cloud coverage too, can't ask for anything more than that.
fine post, its right up your alley. The algae looks rather cool in that lime green color and how the light strikes it.
take care out there on those beaches, I hear that they can be a bitch sometimes! lol
