Photographer's Note
Australia is a huge country, and so it's natural that trucks are big to cover those vast distances efficiently. On the other hand this kind of truck and trailer combination would be illegal in most of Europe.
Shot from a moving train, giving nice motion blur, I think.
(Movin' On was a 1970's American TV series of truckers.)

Hello Kari.
Nicely done, and instantly recognisable countryside for an Australian. I like the composition/crop and the focus on the central subject, with the blurry grass adding motion effect. I know the area around Albury quite well. We also have to share our urban motorways with 18-wheelers like this, and they insist on exceeding the speed limit, overtaking constantly, and 'tail-gating'. But obviously they are vital to transportation throughout the continent. Nice work.

Andrew

Hello Kari,
This is a very good shot from Down Under. In the United States, especially in the West, double trailers like this. There are 34-wheels on this behemoth. It's a perfect shot from the train. The tall grass is out of focus, the truck is as sharp as obsidian glass.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hello Kari
I've only ever been through Albury by train and as road trains go this is only a baby. Even so, it's still quiet a daunting sight to a motorist, especially if its right behind you! Good sharpness & I love the warm cold color contrast between the blue & red. Tfs!

HI Kari
I don't really remember the TV show, but have that song by M People in my head, "Moving On Up, Moving On Out" Ahhhh it's driving me crazy :) But your photo isn't. What a great example of pannning. When I think that both you and the truck are moving at extremely high speeds, the sharpness of the truck and the motion blur surrounding it are quite extraordinary. Love the stark colours and light too, there was no mistake at all that this was Australia. You chose a good year not to come visit, NSW alone has had temperatures up to 49 centigrade, even Sydney was 43 the other day, just awful! Not to mention the fires even in much cooler Tasmania. Anyway, a great shot, one you must be absolutely delighted with. Thanks for sharing it and Happy NEw Year.
Cheers
Lisa

Hello Kari,
You followed very good the truck with your
camera: the picture has a very nice
movement. Also very good are the light
management and the composition.

Hi Kari, in this very vast and static landscape, the slight motion blur adds a different dynamism to your composition. I also liked soft and natural colours. Congratulations.
