A dull gloomy June day in Canberra, I was about to leave when the sun broke through and spotlighted the original Parliament building, the new building is the bunker like structure behind, which fits into the hill.
Canberra was a purpose built city designed by the winner of an international competition -
a Mr Walter Burley-Griffin an American.
This photo was taken from the National War Memorial, and the city is worth seeing for its design and the National icons which are held here, the War museum, art gallery, Library and law courts add to the cultural significance.
Canberra is also famous for the fact that it has "BLUE POLES", a large Jackson Pollock painting purchased in the 1970's for the then controversial price of $3,000,000 dollars - now considered a bargain- worth many times that. |
