Shades of Ernest Hemingway and John Donne in this very apt title. This is a very attractive and beautifully lit composition. Good use of the vertical format and good placement of the carillon. Lovely blue tones and reflections, perfect clarity. I trust you are enjoying your week.

Ciao cara Lisa,
Complimenti e grazie!
Tanti saluti e buona giornata,

impressive looking Carillon and in such a beautiful setting. The light and reflection makes this so attractive and the clouds add such a sensual atmosphere. Shame we cannot hear the bells!
Regards - Brian.

55 bells all in the same time must do a lot of noise or very nice sound. I like the vertical framing and the reflection in the water.
Have a nice day

Saluti e baci

Thansk for my daily thing to learn, until now, I had never even heard the word Carillon. Nice story, and an even nicer image, composed perfectly on the thirds, with a great reflection and a cute little yellow boat. The active sky and portrait frame all pull together for a beautiful image.
Thanks for sharing!

Unbelieveable, but this is the most modern Carillon, I had ever seen, Lisa.
Also, it's location on the waterfront has a strong effect on the bell's tones - as sounds travel faster on water-surface.
A fine shot, the depth and colors are natural and vivid.

Funny that they have an exact definition for something that, as i found out, doesn't even have a Finnish translation. I wonder what's the name for carillon with less than 23 bells. Semi-carillon? Carillonette?
I guess your spacious framing suits for Canberra. What I've seen in pictures, it's not too crowded. Maybe a bit boring too with all the bureaucrats?

Ciao Lisa ,
An interesting building , and a very nice picture , especially for the light , the fall colors , the reflections and the sky . The yellow littel sail (a toy ?) is a bonus .

Wonderful architecture in a marcvelous surrounding,
Great composition with the long reflection.
macjake (58782) 2012-09-11 23:38
well, i can honestly say that i've never seen this subject on TE before.
and i also have to say that you totally lucked out having that orange/yellow tiny boat floating by...what a cute addition to the scene.
the way the reflection penetrates the water is very nice, everything just seems to flow smoothly in the scene.
enjoy your day

Ciao cara Lisa,
interesting carillon, are the bells used? The music of 55 bells must be wonderful. Is this yellow boat a real boat or a toy? it seems so small or the carillon is huge. Very nice and solemn shot.
Have a beautiful evening Malgo

T F S !
Auguri per una bellissima giornata
Un caro saluto

I like your cimple scene. Good quality and some superb natural colors. The yellow spot breaks the chromatic monotony. Well composed.

indeed, for whom are the bells. This is very interesting architecture you presented to us is very beautiful with fantastic perspective from great pov. The view is spectatular. Wonderfully executed with great management of lighting, colors, sharpness. I like very much.
All the best,

Ciao cara Lisa,
Ah, ha, I like your very slight corruption of Hemingway's title for this one - and an interesting note too. But, just in case there's any Irish, Welsh or Scottish nationalists looking at this (and I'm not any of those, thankfully) was this carillon given by England or was it indeed Great Britain? :o)
A striking erection this certainly is and you have portrayed it well, brightly lit by the low sun against an intereting dark sky and surrounded by winter trees. The effect is stunning as also are the reflections of the tower and the sky on the smooth, slightly rippled, water. The little red boat with its bright yellow sails is a fine bonus too.
Gorgeous colours which are vibrant but true,
perfect exposure, excellent composition and, as always, exquisite sharpness.

Simple but absolutely topclass !
With it's pov, format, light balance and last but not least with it's title !
TFS and best regards

I have never heard about carillons before. As simple as is the architecture your presentation is excellent! The light is so great with warm colors and lovely dark clouds which contrast so well with well lit scene. I like the reflection as well, it seems to extend the structure vertically.
Wonderful photograph, TFS

Now, it is for whom the tower reflects ... you!
It is a very lovely shot, the f/g ripples guiding towards the reflection, which, in turn, leads to the tower. I love how the grey/blue colour occupies most of the frame, with the bushes and the tower creating a fine separation line, sharp, interesting and emphasising the thirds composition.
Have a lovely day,
abmdsudi (44964) 2012-09-14 4:49
What I like most in this tranquil scene is how beautifully you managed to capture the water - it's the textures and deep. And then there's that wonderful brownish-golden color that warms the whole picture, with the main interest standout stunningly against the grey sky. Charming composition, Well done

Hello Lisa,I couldn`t let this one pass without comment,it brings back more happy memories,we were lucky enough to attend an evening concert at the carillon,a truly memorable occasion.
I really like the little yellow boat, nice for scale too.
Have a super week end, Les.

Ciao Bambina !!
I am of the opinion that that majority of the people do not know what a Carilon is or what it does..... so your note is very appropriate. I was lucky to visit the chamber with the bells and to see the ropes going to the level below where the playing instrument is located.
Nice photo .... but I miss the rocks !!!!
Un calido abrazo

"Fow whom the bell tolls,
it tolls for you and me..." Hemmingway
Your view creates a peaceful island and carillon tower surrounded by blues - ripple water and dramatic clouds, a place I would love to be at...
Another fine review of Australia, I love,
Congratulations and cheers,
PS: No need to fear people unless you are in a dangerous place? I have discovered wearing a costume when at a festival or event, eases people to permit photography and often they take my photo also.'
There was one bad incident though at a Calif beach when an irate boyfriend told me to stop taking photos of females and forbid be to take any more. He got in my face and threatened to take my camera away. I told him to stop harassing me and I would share my photos gladly, but he just wanted to impress his girl friend by zapping this old guy.
