[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This image was captured at Zabriskie Point in Death Valley N.P.

The name itself evokes all that is hellish - its a lifeless place hotter than Satan's hoof. It's true, well only half baked, Death Valley took every single breath out off me. At 8.30am in the morning the searing temperatures could be felt on my back and the poor campervan engine. Death Valley is a memerising medley of rugged canyons, ghost towns, sand dunes, and colourful mountains. I believe it holds the US records for the hottest temperatures- 56c (134f).

Oh my goodness, this photo really tells the story. You did so well at capturing the feel of the place. I love the colors, and the angle from which you took the photo.

Death Valley is amazing. Here you have a perfect POV, which shows the beauty and strangness of the badlands.
I love this place !

Hi Jim,

ZABRISIE POINT! what a place...what a heat...and what a landscape.
I have also been there...a place full of magic where nature really gave its best to create such a spectacle!

ciao
Silvio

Hello Jim,
This place is unbelievable! I like the beautiful and soft shapes of those hills.
The colours are fine and I like this excellent POV.
Good job!

Best wishes,
Eino

I know this place so well, Jim and even know your exact POV for that. I was standing at the same place and took my own version of it but never posted it. The real trick of Zabriskie Point is being there VERY early in the morning with the rising of the sun. It seems to me that you might have been a little bit to late for the perfect moment and yet you managed it quite well with the background sun. I tried to have someone walking on of these trails to provide some scale but I guess I was to eraly there and even you a little bit later didn't get that ...
Hmmm, non photographic folks are just lazy bums that get there to late to be used as a scale ...

Hi Jim

we were in Death Valley last year in Oct, first day there was a sand storm racing down the valley, i did not dare get the camera out, sand was being blown everywhere, 2nd day another sand storm racing up the valley, and boy was it hot, around artists palette, for a few seconds the car temp went to 142f.

anyway onto your shot, love the composition, and you can just feel the heat rising from the land, great POV and lovely colours.

Regards
Derek

Hi Jim! This image is very good. The textures created by the light work are incredible. I am sure this would give a great b&w. If it was I, I probably would include just a bit more sky in order to avoid the cropping on the right. It's indeed a breathtaking view.
