Photographer's Note
The picture was taken along the California Pacific Coast near Monterey. Highway 1 from Los Angeles to San Francisco hugs the Pacific coast most of the way and is very scenic.
Having driven the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and the Hana Highway in Maui, Hawaii, as well, I think Cabot Trail is still the most scenic (I am probably biased being a Canadian) but the Pacific Coastal Highway would be my second choice.
I was snapping pictures on the coast when I spotted this flock of birds coming towards me. I quickly switched to burst mode on my Nikon D7000 and captured this almost perfect formation. I thought the birds were pelicans initially but now I have to admit I do not know what these birds are. Perhaps someone can enlighten me.
