Flying over Chicago Photo

Photographer’s Note

Two years ago, I felt in love with Chicago.

On coming back from my recent trip to the States and to Mexico, I saw this incredible city through the porthole and could not resist to take some photos of Lake Michigan.
Unfortunately, I was on the wrong side of the plane to take some photos of the Loop.

I definetely have to go back there :-))

Hello Marianne! Oh how nice!!!! You really know how to compose a picture and I like your approach with a lot of blue lake and the city kept in the back. The town now looks small and "harmless", and even the skyscrapers are flat from this altitude. I always have the same, I fly over places that I have been to and I want to land :))) Good reason to return (and better than the oposite and saying never again) ... Have a good night, Barbara.

pas mal cette vue de haut sur la presque ile avec la trompe qui entre dans le lac.
j'aurais peut etre tourné un peu l'image dans le sens antihorligique et coupé un peu la ville.

Une vue très bien saisie de cet aspect plat et urbain de Chicago.
Ici, la plage est réduite à sa plus simple expression pour laisser la place aux maisons qui semblent s'étendre jusqu'à l'infini.
Belle aérienne.

Bonjour, Marianne. Il y a deux parties bien distinctes dans ta photo. L'eau du lac qui présente une surface libre et, derrière, la ville avec ses milliers d'habitations. Le contraste est saisissant. Le format panoramique convient bien ici.

Ca existe ca ? Faudra que j'aille voir... je ne connais que l'aeroport ;-)
Les photos au travers des hublot sont toujours un pari risqué... surtout à l'époque de Google Earth mais tu t'en tires très bien en laissant autant de place au Lac Michigan et en nous cachant le ciel.

Salut Marianne,
Pas etonnant du tout ca, Chicago est une ville que je trouve fascinante, peut etre bien la plus americaine de toutes, le pdv vu d'avion est tres bon, bien contraste, mais je l'aurais peut etre un peu croppe pour enlever la partie de gauche et decentrer cette avancee.

Etonnante prise on ne dirais pas qu'il y a un hublot entre le sol et toi.

CHICAGO!!!!!! How I love this city, one of my favorite US cities. I somehow love the flair of the city, it still has this gangster flair, which is something cool. I will never forget how all these wodnerful skyscrapers looked at night. You are so right, I also love this city. Funny thing is I also have such an image (okay, it has somehow more skyscrapers on it because it is taken from the right side) hanging on my wall, one day I`m gonna rent a helicopter and make a panoramaic image of the Chicago skyline ;-)
Love the blue stripe and how small the building look from above. Beautiful one, thanks for sharing this one, I want to visit it again soon

Mais quand même cette vue aérienne est bonne, hublot propre sans rayures, on a du mal à croire que c'est un lac tellement il est grand, l'eau semble limpide tellement elle est claire.

Completely unusual and eye-catching view of this city, Marianne. I know how difficult is to take a decent shot from the window during a flight, but this is superb. Bravo!

Bonjour Marianne.
Cette vue de Chicago est d'une grande beauté. Prendre des photos à travers un hublot n'est pas une chose aisée et les résultats sont souvent décevants. J'aime les couleurs du lac devant la ville qui se termine par un port de plaisance et une plage.

sabes? mi tercera visita a NYC pasará primero por Chicago. Tengos muchas ganas de conocer su maravillosa arquitectura y su skyline sobre la inmensidad del Lago Michigan, que nos muestras en todo su esplendor en esta difícil toma desde el avión.

Excellente qualité d'image pour une photo prise au travers d'un hublot. Ce bord de mer est superbe, les plages sont attrayantes et cette marina est magnifique, ses formes géométriques sont assez photogénique vues d'en haut. Belle et intéressante photo, merci Marianne.

I love this shot, I think every think was said by the others! You know what´s the funniest thing? I wonder why Mark and my Mom didn´t realized it, but the spot very much in the middle (where this little harbor is) that´s exactly where Mark, and my Mom and I stood, where we took our photos :-) The great seeing this spot from the air.

You have certainly captured a beautiful view of Chicago!! Now I can see why people love it! I always thought of it as cold, grey and windy. I do agree with Barbara's comments, this is very well-composed with the focus on the lake.

The marina is so well protected and the development of the area has nice greens. Very nice aerial view! I like the blue tone of the water

Super shot from the plane window! Works really well because of the expanse of blue of the lake in the frame. Love it...the fluidity is a strong contrast with the bustle of the city blocks in the BG.

Well seeing your belove city from above, a very fresh perspective. I bet you just want to put on a parachutte and jump out of the air plain :) I have not yet been to Chicago, soon. This is a very excellent shot. so clear and beautiful. Great details and love the blue of the great lake.
