Photographer’s Note

« The Audacity of Hope » is the name of a book, published in America on October 17th 2006, written by a young senator from Illinois, Barack Obama.

Two years later, November 5th 2008, a historical day!!! Europe wakes up with the confirmation that Barack Obama just won the presidential elections!!!

Nowadays, hope is personified by Barack Obama for so many people in the world… and there are so many things to hope for…

My hope, Mr President, is that you will not deceive all these young people who, for the first time in their life, decided to go to vote. To vote for you. To vote for a change. To vote for a better world.

My photo: small interruption in my Mexican serie to go back to the States where I attended a real ‘American show’.

Et bien! Je vois que tu as pu t'échapper régulièrement de tes salles de réunion. Ton image haute en couleur convient très bien pour fêter cette victoire historique de la jeunesse. Finalement, les américains ont décidé de se réinventer. Il était temps!

Je crois qu'il y aura un thème qui marquera ce grand jour... :-P)

Oui bien sûr Barack, l'homme vers qui tous les visages sont tournés et qui inspirent toute une génération d'américains, et avouons-le, la planète entière.

Mais c'est aussi ta fête!!! Grâce à Didier, j'ai cru comprendre que tu célébrais ton anniversaire, alors que cette journée soit aussi la tienne de façon retentissante. J'ai l'impression que ta photo convient parfaitement au deux événements, tout en couleurs et lumière.

J'ignore combien de bougies tu souffleras, mais quoi qu'il en soit, je t'accompagne en pensée pour cette journée toute spéciale.

Hi Marianne,

In America more than anywhere else, elections seem to be a "show", so how to celebrate better the end of the campaign in a picture? Above all, with blue and red colors on the dancers dresses! And stars in the head, after a few glasses of champagne!...That's very well done, Marianne! And happy birthday, if what supposes InasiaJOnes is true.

Wonderful photo and great note!
I like the angle of the stage and the colors are amazing. Everything is beautifully lit and well saturated. Good view of each of the performers, too.

J'avais fait une critique et je ne la vois pas apparaître....erreur de manipulation de ma part?
Espérons donc en des jours meilleurs pour le monde (c'est pas gagné quand même!). Ta photo aux couleurs éclatantes(un peu kitsch quand même)nous permet un réveil tout en gaité.
Bon anniversaire (et merci à Didier qui, pour l'occasion, t'a fait un bien beau cadeau.

Bonjour Marianne,

Vu les conditions de prises de vue difficile en interieur, je trouve le resultat tres bon. C est net, bien expose, coloré et la composition donne de la vie a la scene.
Par contre, je ne suis pas certain que j aurai ete client du spectacle.

PS: tu es certaine d avoir bien indique le materiel? Un Canon avec un objectif Nikon?

Un post tres approprie en cette journee doublement festive, ici aussi je te souhaite un tres bon anniversaire, c'etait bien eclaire car c'est tres net et pourtant avec 1/25 tu t'en es remise a la chance: Pis je vais pas bouder mon plaisir vu la dose de rouge, tu voudrais pas par hasard toi aussi nous faire passer Obama pour un communiste ? Hier soir a la tele j'ai vu une interview d'une americaine (tres tres) moyenne qui disait "Obama il est comme vous et s'il est elu ce sera comme chez vous les francais, vous etes communistes et n'etes pas libres", si si !!!

Si je comprends bien tu as un an de plus aujourd'hui alors un très bon anniversaire et je crois que tous ceux qui, comme toi, sont nés un 5 novembre et surtout une bonne partie des américains, vont s'en souvenir !!! Une belle image bien colorée pour fêter ça, on dirait un peu "le plus Grand Cabaret du monde" l'émission télévisée française de Patrick Sébastien...

Avec toutes mes amitiés et plein de bonnes choses pour cette journée qui va s'en doute se terminer fort tard !!!

oh yes, Obama, finally America realized who they need to lead them, somone like Barack Obama, who is intelligent and has the right ideas, I`m so happy that they elected him, I really believe he can change something, it`s a historical day, and I`m so amazed I can experience such a historical happening!

P.S. On the day that Mark was born, William Jefferson Clinton was sworn in as the 42nd US President. And when Mark soon turns 16 (a very important birthday!) on January 20th, an African-American will be sworn in as the 44th President. How historic! Seems like Mark's birthday is often accompanied by important events! :-)

Contente de voir des gens à nouveau ici ;-)) Ils sont un peu loin mais ils respirent la joie qu'on peut interpréter comme celle de la victoire, je suis moi aussi pleine d'espoir ! Bien qu'un peu cynique, en tous cas c'est un formidable pas pour les US d'avoir pu voter un président "noir". Ca, c'est déjà exceptionnel.

Le décor me rappelle beaucoup de souvenirs personnels, je t'expliquerai ça quand on se verra !

Ha, when I saw this photograph I immediately thought that it was for your birthday that day, but when I read your note I realized that it was to celebrate Barack Obama's election. Of course both occasions are reason for celebration.
Very colourful presentation of a typical American show, taken in difficult circumstances on a show boat, squeezed in between many people having dinner at long tables (with hardly any space to move).
A good note!!

Yes We can!!!!!!!!I hope for a change ,too,but Obama has no easy job with not much money left and W. has two more month left towaste money for war!!!
I hope too that the US americans give him enough time for the promises he did.
Since two weeks I`m excecising with an 80 years old german lady who lives since 60 in Austin/texas.She came here for her sister`s 75th birthday and the next day ,she broke her femur and radius by accident.Last wednsday she was sooooooo happy about the result of the election.We talk a lot about the health system in the states,it must be a nightmare for people with less money.
