Photographer’s Note
When we arrived at this view point of Crater Lake, a small herd of chipmunks climbed onto the wall to beg for food and Kath got the perfect shot.
I'd like to dedicate this photo to Kath Featherstone. Her visit was the motivation for this trip to Crater Lake. We drive past the exit for Crater Lake many times each year, but it seems to take guests to motivate us to visit. Further, Kath has been a model for me in posting travelogues, and consistently makes helpful suggestions: like her explanation of the correct use of the blur tool. Her note on Crater Lake is model of succient information; she is a true teacher. Kath and her husband Rob are also great company.
BTW, this is a composite of 4 photos. I did post the large version although I'n not sure 100 KB moire is worth it. I'm not complaining, I wouldn't trade the 300KB limit for the previous double size.

Hi Pat,
splendid overview on the beautiful lake. The wide angle gives an idea of the big dimensions. Very nice is the inclusion of the small animal in the foreground... great shot, thanks for sharing.

Hello Patricia,
Big smile here. there he is, your CR picture and it's good to see it's a good one. Stitch looks flawless, just as the colour range and composition lines.
The Chipmunk gives a nice twist to it, but i'm more interested in the overal view. CR made a big impression me, a beautiful place to spend the day and with good weather you can make great shots as you show us here.
Some lunatics climb over this wall on the right, down the slope, sitting behind that yellow bush and make this photo ;-)
Thanks for bringing this up, brings me back to my trip two years ago...

Nice shot of this incredible place. This really captures the sheer size (I see that you had to do a stitch of 4 photos to capture it all!) and that unique and beautiful blue of the water. It's amazing, but that little chipmunk in the bottom corner really makes this special. Excellent work!

Pat, thank you so much for the dedication; It is very touching. We were so grateful not only for your hospitality, but for the time you spent showing us the places we wanted to see. We also thoroughly enjoyed your company (You even laughed at our jokes! ;D)and hope we will meet again in the UK when we can return the favours.
This pano is wonderful and is probably the first image I have seen that shows the full width of the crater. What luck to have the chipmunk in the frame too (looking in as well) What is also amazing is the cloud formation and the jet trails. There is an arc of clouds almost dead centre and the jet-trails seem to radiate towards it. Great colours of course and a perfect stitch. It was worth the large version, not so much for the extra 100kb, but for the increased dimensions. Well done

Hi Pat,
These small animals are really not savage, it is what I could notice on the last publication of Kath !!! Which marvellous point of view that you shared with us here and in large version it is even more exceptional, I like much. The colors and the light are sublimes, I do not weary myself to make slip my mouse from right to left and from left to right… Cheer Pat, a beautiful dedication with Kath.
With all my friendships and with soon,

Hi Pat,
Fantastic sight on this beautiful lake. The dominant blue is perfect to give a great attraction to the image, which has a high quality, which is obvious specially when we open the large version.
The chipmunk is simply extraordinary, I like these naughty and nice animals.
A beautiful work, my friend.

Hi, Pat.
Stunning one! Perfect stich of an awesome view, those blues are truly priceless. I was here in early September 1997... we got snowed out, temps below freezing, the thickest fog I've ever witnessed in my life. As a result : I never saw Crater Lake... he, he! Next time better.
Have a good day, I'll be seeing you.
Ciao,
Fulvio.

Hi Pat,
jsut saw Kath`s shot from there, and now yours! Okay, you guys convinced me, I got to put this one on my list of places I got to visit someday, it`s already a very long list ;-)
This deep blue, I love that, deep saturated, just how I like it. That chipmunk in the bottom right corner is the icing on the cake! I already lvoed the small version, but the large version shows the place in all of its beauty, very nice!
Take care

Hi Pat,
Great panaoramic shot of Oregon's No. 1 attraction.
The sky is fantastic and the blue of the lake most vivid.
The bits of Oct. yellow blends beautifully with the incredible blue.
Your chipmunk can't help taking a break from his busy fall schedule.

Hi Pat
Your title could not have been more interesting! I saw this post from a link of Kath's earlier post & actually savoured the LP for a very long time. I didn't see the chipmunk at first & I cannot be blamed for that. Look at the gorgeous colour of the lake with the sheen on the water in the FG!! The stitch is impeccable & the jet trails (?) & clouds makes this look super wide angled! Fantastic! Just 38 points for this amazing work?!!! Something seriously wrong in this site, but then who cares about greenies!?. My respects
Best Regards

lol, lol, the title really made me laught :D :D the chipmunks have found the perfect real estate for the feeding station, I'm sure majority of people are so taken by the beauty of the place that they are not exactly aware what they are giving away to the enterprising animals - cookies, nuts, creditcards, Rolex watches.... :D
jokes aside - stunning view and great shot. white clouds criss-crossing the sky add a sense of great depth, I like it a lot. excellent work, my compliments.

Kristine

The stiching of 4 pictures makes for a good panorama, with avery wide view catching the full width of this lake, perfect for the round shape of the crater. Very nice work.

pat,
Looks like we might have just miss each other here, I was here I think later in September. I posted one take exactly at this location with the same tree and yellow bush in the foreground. Except my is looking more toward the left side. Wonderful color of the lake and the clarity is excellent. This is not only a squirel feeding station, it's also a bird feeding station. You can see in my, there is a bird on the tree but too small for many to notice. Wonderful place. Thanks
