This was taken from the new "Golden Spike Tower" in North Platte, Nebraska, USA.
The Golden Spike Tower is an 8-story tower with a 360 degree outdoor panoramic view
of the Platte River Valley and the Union Pacific Railroad Company's over $100 Million
...."Bailey Yard"...., constructed in 1968 and enlarged in 1980 and covers 2,850 acres.
...."Bailey Yard"...., is the world's largest railyard. Everyday 10,000 + cars are sorted on a
maze of 315 miles of track. This composition shows you the refueling station for the engines.
..."Bailey Yard".... is located 60 miles west of our home and the tower offers a unique
POV for the photographer, the yard functions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week everyday
of the year. The operators of the tower are planning a night opening which will offer an
amazing photographic opportunity.
I am going to mix a little new (yet rural) USA in with old (rural) USA for variety within my gallery.
Thanks to everyone for looking in.

This image is fill with very details texture of our industrial and transportation system. Other than BNSF, UP is one of the very often seen cargo train and deliver our product from coast to coast I think. A very daily life and transportation image depicting the way of life here in the US heartland. Very well captured. Thanks

What an amazing place! And a fascinating and informative note you have given us to accompany this fine photograph of it.
Perfectly exposed, nice and sharp with good colours too.
I'm looking forward to seeing some night-time shots from here later!

This is quite a different picture from you and appeals to the railway enthusiast in me, I like this busy scene but think it tilts a bit to the left.
Have a nice day jY

Nice shot of this train yard. Your composition and POV are great using the lines and angles created by the tracks and buildings to create an intricate scene. The lighting and colors are great with nice sharpness and DOF.

An interesting location, and it'll be good to see some industrial shots mixed into your gallery. It's all part of the world around you - like it or not!
I hope you get down to "night at the tower" with a tripod!

belle vue industrielle bien écrasée par le téléobjectif.
De belles couleurs mais je trouve que tu as un peu manqué le cadrage avec deux locomotives coupées au premier plan.

This is a superb shot of the yard showing the rail and tracks and the inside details of the mechanical plant. It is rare to see a view such as this one and this is a fine post for TE.

Details from this impressive site is well shown from this elevated point of view, the presentation is well composed and the image has a fine feeling of depth...
