Photographer’s Note
The Zumwalt Prairie is located just north of Enterprise Oregon in the northeast corner of the state. It is named after an original homesteader in the area and is now mostly owned by the Nature Trust. The ranchers are allowed to let their cattle selectively graze the area which is about 33,000 acres. The prairie bunchgrass is natural and is probably as green as it gets. Although not obvious here there were lots of wildflowers starting to bloom. Everything was about 3 weeks behind due to the cold wet spring and the day before we were out here with the temperature just above freezing and a stiff 25-30mph wind blowing. The elevation of the Zumwalt is about 4000 ft above sea level.

Clicked at the most precise time, Phil.............you waited for that car to cover up the road and then......what a beautiful composition.
I like your POV, positioning of yourself for this shot, and the true colous of this landscape.

Hello Phil,
A very neatly composed picture with fine, soft colors. The road curves gently across the prairie and the dust whirling up behind the car gives action to the picture. There's a strong atmosphere of emptiness radiating from this photo.
Best regards,
Gert

Very well composed view of the rolling terrain with snow cap mountains, and this pov is very pleasant to show the open country of Oregon.

Lovely dramatic sky seen above the beautiful snow capped peaks.
Love the roling hills below and the car leaving for flatland.

Awesome shot, Phil.
Wonderful landscape, vast and gloomy, it definitely oozes Oregon!
Now, I'm in the process of wrapping up & working out all sort of stuff before leaving to the USA (Aug. 3 to 26), so I don't think I'll be posting again until late August/early Septemper. But I'll be checking out stuff on TE in whatever time I got left in the next few days.
In any case : you guys have a wonderful weekend and a wonderful summer!
I'll see ya later on.
Cheers,
Fulvio.

Hi Phil. I do like the mood here- it seems that there is a race on between the car and the clouds, or that the former is trying to flee from the latter. Effective POV that captures the expanses. Regards. Klaudio.

Hi Phil,
Can You beat that?? I just had to open this photo to find out the location of the Zumwalt Prairie; and it's in Oregon!!
When I opened it, I discovered it's also a great photo with wonderful clouds, snow-capped mountains, rolling high-desert prairies (Is that a contradiction in terms?) with fence-lines and roads marching diagonally across with a ubiquitous pick-up bouncing down the road, followed by a cloud of dust. AND there's a fascinating note which taught be something new about one of my own corners of the world.
All-in-all, practically perfect in every way.
