a view on the Canadian side of the Niagara river featuring lights that illuminate the famous Niagara Falls. sorry, you cannot really see the falls themselves, they're down to the left and right, the photo was taken from the island between the two. the fog on the left is the mist rising from the Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side. for the view FROM the Canadian side take look at this photo by zmey.

Hi Kristine... nice night capture, I esp. like that path of light coming from the other side, and the sitting guys enjoying the view and well... I happen to be reading the book "Everything is Illuminated", by J. S. Foer... Regards, Daniel

Hi Kristine.
Ottima composizione con ottimi colori.
Complimenti Renzo

Hi Kristine,
Well, I don't have any works to say because this capture is splendid, lovely. Good lights and colors. Well done!! Regards, Consuelo

Dear Kristine,
No waterfall in front, but that makes it only more interesting than the useal view from there...even at night. Here it are the lights, the lines in the composition but most of all your colour range what makes the picture. I really like this, gives a more creative touch to such a well known place...very good work.
Regards, Henk

Hello Kristine, and hello TE, is there anybody out there, I mean eight points before me for this excellent presentation can't be the truth. Maybe some of us are blinded by the beamer :)))))))) For me this rotating light makes the whole picture so different and exciting and how the people sit there in the night watching the falls from a safe distance avoiding to get wet (I am guess working, I have never been there). Such an attractive photo and high quality work. You should see me with night shots (pixelterror is my witness), I am a scream.

This is well done, complimento ... Barbara.

Hello Kristine:

Undoubtedly friend who is a great composition, worthy to expand and publicize.

I love the game of shades in the shadows, with an excellent definition, despite the nightlife.

The depth highlights beautiful forms and games neon determine an overview simply extraordinary. Congratulations.

John

Kristine, it is a pretty shot, I love night work, but I am not sure where the falls are in the shot. Like Henk I like the shot a lot, it is very interesting and the color is great, I even like the folks sitting on the hill watching it all.

Greg

Great light management!
Fantastic shot... you area REALLY great, my dear Kristine.
Regards
Renzo

Hello Kristine,

The presence of the four individuals sitting on the ground and the light control make this a genuinely good image. You've mastered the D200, while bringing a painterly eye to the composition. Warm regards,

Have a good weekend,

Bulent

Hi Kristine,

wow this is really great...I feel like looking into some strange future/sci fi world...great work!

Take care, Ivana

Hello Kristine,

Very interesting to see this photograph! I always imagined the Niagara falls to be somewhere in the middle of a nature reserve. Yep, a total lack of geographic feeling from my side. But as you are showing us here, there's quite some city around it :-). Thanks for sharing!

Greetings,
Dennis

hey there :)

urban niagara: showing that aspect does not get any better than this. Mc-highrises, concrete, city glow, electric spot-lights and vast expanses covered by asphalt. and... a touch of poetic moood. niagara exact!

hugs,
kristaps

Wonderful shot. Great light management. beautiful night colours. greetings,

figen

Hi Kristine,
This is really an excellent night shot, so smooth and flawless the quality is. The spot lights projects a smooth light and leads our eyes to the people from a distant. Excellent use of light, well done.

Hi, Kristine -

Seems you and Kristaps each chose very different but very surreal shots of Niagra! Excellent use of lines and light. The few people scattered about do not detract from the surrealism of the image.

Best,
Dan

ahh this one is killing me, what a warm and faithful atmosphere.. what time is this?
the light is so soft and the POV perfec, I'll definatly put this one in my favorites!!!

Hi Kristine,
although you can't see the falls, the composition is making up a lot. The skyline is beautiful and the four men sitting and watching are fabulous/

Hi Kristine,

you know what I like in your and Kristpas posts? As soon one posts a nice shot from somewhere, the other comes with another good one :)))...but this doesn't mean the images are similar, both have particularities. I like the effect of the lights in this shot. The 15 seconds were enough to bring details in the foreground pathway and grass and not too much to overexposure the cityscape at the back. I also like your choice for this wb, in which the red is predominant. Very good work!
Regards,
Carlos

Wonderful night view and superb light management, Kristine! One of those shots I'll never take. It's very simple : once it gets dark I'm lost! Well, you can always find me in the nearest bar...
Now, I might be posting one more time before leaving to Vegas on Aug.3. On the other hand : I'm in the process of wrapping up & working out all sort of crap before departure, so I don't know whether that one last post is actually going to appear... That not being the case you'll see me back in here by early September or maybe even a little before then. Also : this TE stuff needs a break once in a while. As much as I love it, it takes lots of my time and tons of energy... So : time to unplug!
You guys have a wonderful summer!
I'll see ya later on. A BIG HUG,
Fulvio.

Kristine,
A very moody night shot, lovely color illuminated by the light, I like the soft edges all over, romantic you can say, except those 4 guys may not think so. Beautiful composition, the light management is perfect no noise, that is very good for a night shot. All is very neat and clean. The mist casting the lights from the atmosphere is just perfectly glows in the dark. I love it. Thanks Kristine.

Hi Kristine! A magic picture of night and a beautiful composition. The litted up points and the opposition of night gave a picture that impresses

hi Kristine

I visited Niagara in 1977 summer and with a slide film camera. God knows where are the slides now. But I spent too little daytime without a night here and surely missed a lot, judging from what I see here.

This is a most unusual night exposure I have seen, in your illumination using spot lights and it is correct for me to say this is postcard quality. I can see the contour in the sky from my monitor. Well done. tfs

The exposure control is very impressive here Kristine. The colors of the lights are beautiful. Love the guys sitting on the hill as well as the group of people standing down on the lower level. The buildings look like they are from a futuristic world or maybe a graphic novel. Great compo.

Ryan

Hey Kristine,

You controlled the light very well, we've seen much of the falls but this scene is spectacular in itself! Excellent shall I say ;)

Cheers!

Jom

Hi Kristine, this is really a captivating shot. The way you manage the light is incredible. I have stared at it for the longest time. The way the light from one side of the falls shines onto the people on the other is truly amazing. That said, I think the fact that there are people in the shot makes it that much more impressive. We really get an idea for the size of everything. The figures also create a sense of wonder and admiration. They seem to be sitting in awe.

TFS. I hope you are well.

J.

Hello Kristine
The exposure is spot on to perfection. That's the beauty of this night shot, crisp, sharp & a delight to watch. Compo. is done well with the diagonal of the path in the FG. The floodlights can be quite blinding, but superb exposure control here. A very different picture from a very known place. Fine work Kristine!

This one screams with magic, Kristine!
I feel like a little kid who's in a cinema for the first
time!
So many levels and all of them wonderfully lit. Amazing
tones of red colour.
Bravo!

A beautiful and magical capture Kristine, never seen Niagara Falls illuminated like this at night. Just checked Zmeys photo also, this place at night looks amazing. A must see place before I die, best regards Steve.

Hi Kristine!
The light is wonderful, soft and bright in same time; the composition is excellent, with the shadows of the people facing the view, and the lines of lights in diagonal. It's sharp, and the atmosphere is absolutely terrific. Funny that, to be close from a so big amount of water does not prevent to feel at the edge of a volcano!
Best regards,
Marine

hello Kristine,

wouaw, so nice, this night shot. Wonderful colors.
J'aime beaucoup ces spectateurs assis à contempler la lumière, c'est très bien fait !
Bonne journée
