Photographer’s Note
Jerome, Arizona was once the fourth largest city in Arizona. It was a mining town at the turn of the 20th Century. Gold, silver, copper all were mined in the area. It virtually became a ghost town when the ore was exhausted, or too expensive to mine profitably. Today, it is a mecca for motorcycle riders, hippies, artists, and tourists. Small quaint shops and tiny eating establishments can be found throughout the town. It is in a beautiful high mountain setting of approximately 5,000 feet. It is only about a two hour drive from Phoenix, AZ

Hello Roger,
This is a well composed shot looking out over the town of Jerome. Using the tree limbs is an attractive way to frame the picture and also adds extra interest. Thanks for the informative good note.
Kind regards,
Betty

This does look just a little grainy, but nonetheless is beautifully composed and the natural colours look completely unreal - it's criminal that more points haven't been awarded for this!
Fascinating note too - I can imagine several examples somewhat closer to home that might go the same way when the resouces disappear. Scary...

Hi Roger,
Nice framing with the tree adding DOF to the distant colored hills.
I remember traveling through Jerome as a child when the town was truly deserted and very spooky, I also remember this view. At the time, I was told that the town was sinking into mines below and I always expected to fall through the ground.
HLJ, Pat
