Photographer’s Note
Yes it is so beautiful from far a way but so ugly when stuck under it, it is the storm that hit Dallas FortWorth last week.
I was protecting the camera by my hand from the rain(if there will be) but the wend was so strong, i was holding the tripod by the other hand. I felt a drop of rain on my scholder so i thought its just a little drops carried by the wend, moments later and sudenly there was a heavy shower so i grabed the camera under my Tshirt and ran to the car pulling the tripod like a tail between my legs, it was so funny and dangerous but worth it.
Sam.

Hej igen Sam,
Magical light . How did you acchive the yellow sky? Was it a filter or postwork? I really like it. We have seen so many violet and dark skies with flashes.

WOW indeed!
A little bothered by what appears to be a tilted horizon, but given your description perhaps we should be impressed it's not much worse. Well worth the danger to you and your camera, a once-in-a-lifetime shot. Congratulations!

The yellow sky is kind of an eerie effect. Did you do it in PP, or is it from the artificial lights below? I guess there are enough pictures of lightning around that's it's worth trying a different look, though if I could have just one lightning photo I don't think I'd choose yellow. So I'd call it a success. (You should straighten the horizon, though, that's always a very visible detraction.) Regards, Ken.

Hi Sam,
this shot was really worth the effort! The yellow skies indicating that it is absolutely serious and the lightnings are very well captured. Congratulation!

Hello Sam,
It is not funny to be caught in a dangerous thunder storm, but I smiled when I read the last three lines of your note! The numerous jagged bolts of lightning have set the sky ablaze with color with such force I can almost hear the thunder. It is an impressive composition. Good work!
Warm wishes,
Betty

Hi Sam,
this is a very impressive photo! I like your note, when you describe that moment, we have the impression to be there with you.
I was surprised to see this yellow sky. It is not what I prefer, but I read your answer to Kensimage and understand why you did so. So, why not?? The result is good and original.

Marianne

Hi Sam,
The golden tone is striking and unusual .. really unique scene .. at first I was going to scream about the angle .. but I think not to much looking at the trees on the right .. wonderful. take care, John

Sam,
I see that you're one who like to spend sometime in the digital darkroom and experiment with your photos, It is fun to do, I do that myself sometimes. In this case I like the result, Though it look unreallistic. What I'm impress with more is the perfect moment you captured the lightning, that's what made this photo special. the rest is extra. The orange sky work well, It could in theory be how it is in a split second when the lighting lit up the sky. The composition is good with the curving of the side walk toward the silhoutte of the trees. Over all a good image with a very personal style quality. thanks Sam.

Hello Sam,
Wow. This is a very exciting capture. I never had the opportunity to capture something like this or even get to see that often. The fact that you managed a good composition to capture this fleeting moment is admirable. I love the use of the curves. There is a feeling of slight tilt to the right but nothing that cannot be corrected by PP. Good lighting & colors. Well done. Best Regards. Latiff.

Hey Sam,
An amazing photo, decisive moment indeed - perfect timing, with some interesting, albeit not quite natural colors, but I like them - they go well with the mood. fine show.
Best regards.

hello Sam,
I see that others have already mentioned the need to straighten the horizon, so I'll not repeat that. but I am surprised about the colour noise in the water - D300 at ISO 200 should never do that. but it can be corrected quite easily.
other than that - I do like the unusual colour, and how the curve of the road leads the eye into the photo and towards the dramatic sky. the bench seems just in the right place to enjoy this natural show :) perfect timing, my compliments.
regards,
Kristine

Hi Sam,
I've never had that chance. I wonder if I will see that through my lens. Perfect moment, impressive register. The title fits perfectly: Beauty of the Beast...it's just about that. Well done!

Hi Sam, Excellent surreal-looking view of this weather over the horizon. I like the colours and bolts of lightening very much. Like a National Geographic image. TFS. Murray.

Hello Sam,
Such an incredible shot!
Must be terrific to be in front of such a spectacle... and I do not think my first idea would be to take my camera out!
You did it and, as you say, it really worthed it. Hat off!
Have a nice evening.
Best regards, Christian

Sam bonjour.
C'est une belle scène d'orage avec un ciel étrange. J'aime le premier plan dans l'ombre qui fait ressortir la clarté du ciel.
