Photographer’s Note
A prickly poppy (genus Argemone, species unknown) stands out in the arid high plateau (2000 m) of the Great Basin, dominated by sagebrush. The image was taken on highway 120 close to the South Tufa area of the Mono Lake. The peaks of the Sierra Nevada in the background raise to over 3500 m here and still carry plenty of snow at the end of June.

Hi Roland,
Interesting landscape and different from what we know in Alberta. The image is well composed with a good sense of depth and fine details. The mountains are quite high I think but the snow layer seem thin for such altitude. Nice picture. Thanks Roland :-)

Hi Roland,
you created a very good composition with a terrific depth of view thanks to f/16! The flower decorates the scene so much! It looks an alpine terrain!
Best wishes,
Athanasios.

Hello Roland,
a very nice contrast of different faces of nature: that of the lovely flower in the foreground and the serious dark mounts in the background. Teh atmosphere is excellent, on can feel the clear and fresh air of the mountain.
Best whishes

I'm not sure how I missed this but it's a beauty! Very nice composition and colors. The flower in the fg really give this one an extra kick. A gorgeous scene. TFS
