This photo was taken near the intersection of H Street and Pennsylvania Avenue on the morning of the day of the official visit to Washington DC by His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI.
The people in the back are well-wishers who had already started gathering early in the day. The building on the left is the World Bank where I was attending a two-week course and through which I entered immediately after taking this photo.
