This is one of the two torrents of the fort. I was trying to show the contrast of the old fort and the modern boat passing by. Three hundred years ago that boat would have been an easy target for the canons of the fort.
Fort Matanzas represents a well-preserved masonry fort built by the Spanish between 1740 and 1742. The tall tower provided a platform to observe vessels approaching St. Augustine from the south, and the cannon blocked potential enemy advancement via the Matanzas River, the backdoor to St. Augustine.
In 1565, almost 175 years before construction began on Fort Matanzas, another story was played out at the Matanzas Inlet--the massacre of the French Huguenots. A large French force under Jean Ribault had left their settlement of Fort Caroline in Spanish-claimed territory near present-day Jacksonville to attack the Spanish at their new settlement of St. Augustine (San Agustin).

Bonjour Asa,
Une composition des plus simples, mais agréable, incluant un bateau en navigation. Le ciel vide est superbement polarisé.
J'ai fait un WS pour recadrer l'image et tout mettre d'aplomb.

Have a good sunday.
Pierre

Hello!

Hi Asa,
Beautiful vertical presentation of the old gun torrent with its wonderful strategic view of the inlet. The old stone work contrast brilliant against the vivid blue sky and water. The boat does make a fine illustration of why the fort was so located. Very vibrant scenic image.
Regards, Tom

I remember very well your series of pictures about this fort: one better than the other. This last one matches the previous ones quite well. I like the well saturated colours, and the composition that shows the torrent to the left and the white motor boat which makes a bright spot and adds contrast.
Fine.
Donato

Hello Asa,
Interesting view of this old tower with a superb blus sky, but the horizon line is a tilted.

What a good idea to contrast the old and the new. Your picture is a powerful composition - well organized. The shape of the old fort adds interest. There is great texture and detail in the stones too. Very nice.
Betty

Hello Asa,

Bonjour Asa.
J'aime cette composition très forte parce que très simple avec une partie de la forteresse, une échauguette devant un beau ciel bien polarisé et une rivière qui le reflète.
Jacques

Hi Asa, the sharpness is superb, especial on the stone old building looks like it is in reality and possible to touch it.
The blue sea with the white boat adds a nice ton-effect here.
Best wishes.

Hi ASA,

Very interesting cropping of this fort! Looks like this tower is most important part of building - isn't it? Nice colours of sky and I like how you captured great boat in background!

Hello Asa,
Very nice process, must better than the original version. Good composition showing the historical architecture and modern boat and smooth and blue of the sky and the natural backdrop help bring out the texture of the wall. Simple yet effective image that demand attention to the main subject. Thanks Always.

Hi Asa,
wonderful simple presentation of this part of the fortification against this wonderful blue of the sky. The boat adds life but I think there is a tilt at the water by the lens.

Good idea this strong vrop of the fort asa. The polarizer adds effect while the motorboat add contrast. Good idea.

I liked a great deal of the framing, getting on well the idea of where this fort is inserted.
In Portugal also we have a great deal of these forts, spread by our lovely coast, one day of this I put a photo here.
Obliged by the comment and suggestion.
An embrace,
Filipe Teixeira
