Photographer’s Note
When this storm rolled in, I found a window to take pictures from. This window actually had water continously streaming down the window so that made it better than a window with rain drops on it. I just set my camera to 15 seconds, f/2.6, put on my home-made polarizer, and pressed the shutter and walked away. I don't like to stand too close to the window during these kinds of thunderstorms. I walked in between some windows and then I heard it. The deafening thunder. I went to the camera and realized I had got it on the 15 second exposure. I waited for it to load, hoping I had my camera pointed in the right direction. I looked and it had these two bolts right down the middle. I know exactly where they struck and I'm looking forward to seeing what the empty condo and lone tree look like. I used a website that uses google maps to measure distance (http://walking.about.com/library/walk/blgooglemap1.htm) and figured out the bolt on the right was .17 miles away from the camera and the one on the left was .21 miles. I darkened the image to make it look better, but that is all. The purple color is natural.
