As soon as we dropped and left our luggages in a very "low cost" motel in Hatch we headed for Ruby's Inn next to Bryce N.P....and we got this surprise.
We drove across Dixie National Forest.
A pleasant surprise.....don't you think?

more info:
The Dixie National Forest, with headquarters in Cedar City, Utah, occupies almost two million acres and stretches for about 170 miles across southern Utah. The largest National Forest in Utah, it straddles the divide between the Great Basin and the Colorado River.

Elevations vary from 2,800 feet near St. George, Utah to 11,322 feet at Blue Bell Knoll on Boulder Mountain. The southern rim of the Great Basin, near the Colorado River, provides spectacular scenery. Colorado River canyons are made up of many-colored cliffs and steep-walled gorges.

The Forest is divided into four geographic areas. High altitude forests in gently rolling hills characterize the Markagunt, Pansaugunt, and Aquarius Plateaus. Boulder Mountain, one of the largest high-elevation plateaus in the United States, is dotted with hundreds of small lakes 10,000 to 11,000 feet above sea level.

The Forest has many climatic extremes. Precipitation ranges from 10 inches in the lower elevations to more than 40 inches per year near Brian Head Peak. At the higher elevations, most of the annual precipitation falls as snow. Thunderstorms are common during July and August and produce heavy rains. In some areas, August is the wettest month of the year.

Temperature extremes can be impressive, with summer temperatures exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit near St. George and winter lows exceeding -30 degrees Fahrenheit on the plateau tops.

The vegetation of the Forest grades from sparse, desert-type plants at the lower elevations to stand of low-growing pinyon pine and juniper dominating the mid-elevations. At the higher elevations, aspen and conifers such as pine, spruce, and fir predominate

Yves.

Ciao Silvio.
La strada, come elemento compositivo, dą una bella profonditą all'immagine sopperendo efficacemente all'assenza di un primo piano. Cio' che mi piace in particolare č la tonaitą calda delle rocce, in contrasto col blu e grigio del cielo.
Ciao. Bobo.

Hi Silvio,

This is really double surprise. Splendid contrasts between reddish part and beautiful cloudy sky with black paved road. Road and its element adds very good depth and green pine trees are make your frame more richest one. Wonderful. Congratulations.

Best Regards,

Ertugrul

Ciao Silvio,
eccoci qua, a Red Canyon, on the way to magic Bryce!
Oggi abbiamo postato tutti e due una foto della stessa zona...
Bravo, ottima prospettiva, l'autostrada, il rosso meraviglioso dei costoni, i nuvoloni, AC/DC, birra, e... a palla verso il Ruby's Inn!
He he he....
Buon weekend, ci risentiamo al piu` presto.
Ciao,
Fulvio.

Nice shot, interesting road-view!
I like it.Lets see other photos. :)

Ciao Silvio!
Very pleasant surprise, which I envy you ;-)
The rocks with handsome clouds (which looked solid!)above make a nice view. If the road was empty, you'd risk and shooting from it, the POV might be even better. There's a tight line on the right edge - part of road sign, and other photographer's hand also unnecessary here. I advise you to crop it or clone out.
Have a pleasant weekend
PS. When will you show some fresh pics from Kraków?

Good old Bryce. I just love the landscape in this area, Bryce, Zion, you name thems, it keep going. Great image with good color of the red rock as if it's on fire in the middle of the day. The green trees really contrast well for the red rock. Thanks for sharing and your nice comments.
