Photographer’s Note
Today, I went to the Ellensburg Rodeo, in Ellensburg, Washington, about two hours east of Seattle on the other side of the Cascade Mountains. The event in this shot is called Tie-Down Roping. The cowboy comes out, lassos the calf around the neck, jumps off his horse (seen here), and then ties the calf's feet together. The better competitors do the whole thing in under 10 seconds. The calf is untied and released as soon as the cowboy gets back on his horse.
I tried a variety of different crops to try to get "closer" to the action, but I wasn't really satisified with any of them, so I left it uncropped. I think the original gives more of a feel for the whole scene, but I'd be curious if others agree.

Its a nice shot and you are right the uncropped image conveys the atmosphere of the scene better. Hwever, I do fel the bottom part of the pic were you can see the strip of colorful flags is not really needed. Lemme see if I can do a WS
