[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Ellis Island in 1982, shortly after it was re-opened to the public but before the restoration began. The Island was used as the main point of entry for immigrants on the east coast until 1954, and after that used as a Coast Guard station until it was abandoned. Everything was left as it was on the last day of occupancy.
