Because so many TE people commented that they would prefer to have seen a vertical presentation of the (Kingfisher Tower Castle) recent post.
Besides this charming castle, Cooperstown is the home of the "Baseball Hall of Fame," "The Farmer's Museum," (19th American Rural life), "The Fenimore Cooper House" (Wealthy 18 century American Rural Life and Iroquois Indian exhibition) and a wonderful luxury hotel and golf course.

hello Tom,
yes, I definitely prefer this version, here the tower has more space to stretch upwards and the feeling of wide open space is more pronounces. the composition with the gentle curve of the shoreline leading towards the tower still works very well, and the kayak is just in the right place. very nice work.

with best regards,
Kristine

Hi Tom.
I agree with the previous two. There is a very pleasing amount of space around the tower in this one. The curve of the shoreline and the position of the kayak make a great entry to the scene. Perhaps I would have tried shaving a little off the left side, to see if placing the tower more off centre would enhance it, but I say that speculatively as it looks really good the way it is. Nicely exposed.
Regards,
Andrew

Hey Tom,

I like the other version, but this one is not bad either, the perspective didnt mean that much to me, anyway, it looks nice. The canoe is a nice touch, and the clarity and sharpness are both great. Lovely work.

See you around.

This really is a beautiful castle. I would love to see the inside. Very nice composition. TFS

hello Tom

Superb pov of showing the castle in vertical but I find it more interesting for your composition, with the path leading to the entrance. Nicely captured shot.

tfs, bill

Hi Tom
comme la première fois je trouves ce cliché de toute beauté, mais à la vertical il parait plus haut et plus majestueux,
Amitiés
Jean-Pierre

Helo Tom
Another one great present of this lovely castle and great shot in any aspect.

Hello Tom,
Yes, this works much better for me. It makes a more rounded composition in my opinion and gives due prominence to the tower.

Impressive capture of a majestic structure! Very good composition. I like this one of presentation because the castel is well positioned in the image. Well done
Best wishes,
Achim

Hola Tom,
Muy buena idea haber puesto de nuevo esta toma en formato vertical, yo creo que gana bastante la composición.
Un cordial saludo amigo.

Hello Tom,

When I saw this, I thought I was having a little deja vu!
Anyway, now I realise that I have seen it before! I do think it is better in this format! It fits so much more snuggly and compactly into its surround! It yells 'fine composition!'

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Tom,

You chose a vertical frame this is very good done.
Also the quality and the placing of the tower little bit out of the middle gives a good composition.
The narrow way to the tower care for good depth and perspective.
Very well done, thanks for sharing.

Best regards,
John.

Hello Tom,
nice composition with great perspective and POV.I think that the vertical presentation is much better than the horizontal one.I like the nice and clear colors as the existence of the little boat in the foreground.Well done.

Regards,Danos

Tom, I have to agree that the vertical arrangement wokrs for me even tho I didn't comment on that part of it, I do like seeing the ornament on top the roof. Nice job as always.

hahaha, Tom

so we talked you into this, huh? :)) well, i was one of 'them', in favor of the vertical crop, and i stand by my word. i like this much better compositionally. i guess, i would have gone even closer to the boat, but it is nice as is :)

warm regards,
kristaps

Hi Tom
This vertical definetly works well for this subject. I also like the colours of the kayak and the roof tiles matching one another.

Bonjour,
bonne idée de construire et de prendre en photo ce batiment genre château ou chapelle au bout de la jetée.
Je n' avais jamais vu cela et je suis content de l' avoir vu, je trouve que tu a fait la une superbe photo.

Amitié
Rosa

Hi Tom
In my opinion, this picture is better than the other. The colors and contrasts are more intensive and its framing brought out the many details this tower and the kayak, too. Good work. Best regards, Consuelo

Aha, writing critiques acutally does something good. Yes, now that we can compare the two versions I see that it really payed off to do it in vertical. I definitively prefer this one over the other.
Peter

Hi Tom,

horizontal, vertical... Both are great to me! I like the canoe in front of the tower...

Cheers,

Loïc

Ola Tom ,
As duas versões são bonitas a torre é magnifica de grande beleza , gostei da canoa na foto , parabéns!!
Um abraço Gonçalo

Fantastic shot, Tom!
The light and color are wonderful, extraordinary clarity and detail, beautifully composed with the castle off center at the end of that curve of beach. I like the kayak, too and the way it matches the color of the roof. This is SUCH a great shot! Thanks and have a fine week,
Shelly
