Grand Canyon NP

I normally visit the north side of the Grand Canyon. In fact this was only my second trip to the south side, the first some forty years ago. I found that the south side is very similar to the north for me- very breath taking but hard to capture that feeling with the camera. It didn't help that the sky was cloudless and the air was hazy. So in addition to the obligatory grand panoramic photos, I took a few pictures that were a little more intimate.

This photo was taken about a half mile down the Bright Angel trail. The trail was still pretty slick from snow and mud so we were able to go down only a half mile or so.

Allan, this is a fine capture. It is colorful and sharp and the lighting is managed nicely.

Nicely captured, fine detail, good perspective, interesting and it is a less common view of the GC.

Absolutely stunning! What a fantastic location to get to shoot - and they way youve framed and put the photo together is very well done.

Hi Allan:

I don't think I've ever seen a picture of the Grand Canyon with snow before, so before anything you get uniqueness points as far as I'm concerned. That said, either way this is a nice shot of the canyon. The lighting works really well and I like the composition with that jutting rock and the triangular glimpse of the other side of the canyon.

Hi Allan,
Didn't know there would/could be snow in the Grand Canyon. Beautiful pov shows the greatness of nature and makes us realise how small we are. Good composition, depth, sharpness and colours.
