Today posting a view from up Mt Baker Washington. The view is looking towards the Bagley trail and up behind the ridge on the left is Herman Saddle. There is no possible way you can trek up in this snow without snow shoes or skis. I know that to be true because I tried it myself to take this photo from the edge of the parking lot. Up to my waist in snow quickly sinking as I tried to dig myself out without ruining my camera gear over my neck.
The snow up here will last for another 4 months into June and July. Then in the last part of July, in August and September the trails open up to allow the hikers into this alpine terrain.
But for now the snow will keep falling and as you can see in the workshop posted the covering of snow on the Firs Cabin. A wonderful place to enjoy snow 9 months of the year. I named Mt Baker in the city category which is incorrect. The town of Bellingham is within an hours drive. Enjoy the snow while it lasts.

Paul,
This is a beautiful winter scene. The snow covered trees create nice contrast to the white snow. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. The sky is great and provides a nice splash of color to the shot.

Asa

A great view. Perfect travel shot.

Hi Paul
I like how you captured the line of trees and the line of the snow shoe trail. You caught this as the sun was partially hidden I think as it has a subdued contrast to it. Well done.
Phil

Oh I wish I was there. In Houston right now we're wearing skirts and sandals, our summer is already here! We already have to turn the A/C on just to keep from sweating inside, and here you are lucky enough to have this beautiful snow! *sigh* I miss real winter, something Houston is devoid of. This really does capture that glorious feeling of standing in the snow in the mountains. I like this time of day and the range from bright white in the sunny spots to dark blue in the shadows, and the color of the sky energizes the whole scene.

Hi Paul!
I liked a lot your picture!
Shadows were a highlight for me! They've made the snow less bright and this has made the photo to be sharper!
Beautiful scenery!

Hello Phil -

That is really depressing! Four more months of snow. We are just waiting for the spring to get here. It's arriving, but slowly. Excellent scene, it looks like someone ski or snowshoed in front of you. Well done!

Thank you for sharing.

John

Hi Paul,
Wow, is there snow or what? Are those your tracks - glad you were able to dig yourself out? I like the deep rich colors and overall image impact. Great shot and TFS. Gerald

Hi, Paul. A pristine landscape with the snow covering everything and making everything smoother. We don't get that much of snow here, even in the Alps. The light is very good in your picture and the contrast between snow and sky works very well. The tree on the left gives a good depth to your composition.

G'day Paul!
Another beautiful snowscene - can we swap countries for a year, please? Having said that, I'm hoping to return to Canada for another trip sometime soon, God willing and the creeks don't rise!
Cheers,
Jeff

Great winter scene Paul! The heavy snow sitting on the gorund and on the trees shows us just how much snow this place gets. I remember a few years ago they got so much snow at Mount Baker that it never did melt in the summer. I went on October 1st and there was still 10 feet of snow in the Aritist's Point parking lot!

Hello Paul,

As much snow in an year, not for my, I like more the sun and warm weather.
I find snow very nice on a postcard or a picture as these.
Splendid image and very good quality and composition, perhaps difficult for take for you but a wonderful picture.
Very well done, thanks for sharing.

Have a nice work week,
John.

Hello Paul,

In this photograph of another winter wonderland, there are compelling slopes and curves, light and gentle shadows. The note is particularly interesting for me I cam to Belingham 2-3 years ago to give a keynote talk at a math conference at Western Washington University. Unhappily, it was in the summer, and I had no idea such beautiful winter scenery lay just an hour away. Absolutely magnificent photograph, with fabulous composition, colors and resolution.

Warm regards,

Bulent

Bonsoir,

Hello My friend,

You explained so well the crcumstances about getting pictures in deep snow. This is why they are so valuable, difficult to reach, and obce you are there with the good equipment there's no guarantee about the light. Skis are OK, but then a small camera with one lens only, exactly as you did so well in this one.
You don't seem to post pictures daily, and this is the reason why I lost track during the last days.
All the best to you and I wish you a very good summer season, plenty of good images.

Izzet

Hello again Paul;

I like the placement of the tree and the visible amount of sky in regards to composition. Sharpness is pin-point, black and shadows are good, but I think a boost of the highlights (more specifically in the snow) would really help this image to pop.
I'll try some workshops on my suggestions when I get home from work.

Cheers!
- Dan

A stunning view of this terrain! The light management is great with lovely colours and fine details. I would like to have been there for a while! I enjoyed this post very much, Paul! Thank you!

Warm regards,
Athanasios.
